I think the in-car nav will be connected to sirius traffic updates, not sure how good that is, but it should take traffic into account.

Although since people here suggested Waze, I've given it a try. I have to say, I really really like it. My in-car nav may not get much use. I just have to figure a good way to mount my phone now. Getting road alerts along with police sightings is definitely not going to be on the car's nav. It's also quite aggressive on finding the fastest way to work, and recalculates on the fly if I decide I don't really want to drive that path.

Man I wish I could get it to run on the car's big screen. C'mon guys, this is the future, lets make it happen already.

I'm planning on getting an Galaxy S5 to replace my 'aging' iPhone 5. Hope I don't regret the switch.
I run WAZE on my Galaxy S5 and love both!

You will regret the switch :D I went the other way when the 5 came out. Just got the 6 and I really like it.

Ford should be implementing Apple CarPlay, which some manufacturers are already doing, but Ford is lagging. I'm hoping they'll implement in a future upgrade for the Mustang, but I'm afraid they won't implement until they switch over to the new QX Blackberry system....I think they are still using the Microsoft system?

i'm using this mount in my current car right now, mounted to my dash. ive looked at the dash on the mustang though, and there doesnt seem to be any good flat spots to mount this on...

Also, i made the switch from my iphone 5S to the samsung s5 a few weeks ago. I had a terrible experience. Bad battery life, no ipod interface (can't listen to pandora via usb cable in my car), sluggish interface (choppy), fingerprint sensor sucked, and the speakerphone was terrible.

I returned it after 2 weeks and went with an iPhone 6, and couldn't be happier.

Samsung sent me an email last week to do a review of the S5, so I did:

Sorry but I found that line funny.
it's really not though. i listen to my pandora through my usb port on my car for 2 hours a day. i couldn't do it with my s5 because it simply cannot play music through usb, not even the mp3s you have on the phone.

i could've waited until my mustang gets delivered, since i'm sure that ford sync would be able to play through bluetooth, but i asked myself, why am i settling for this phone, if there's a phone out there that does everything i want already? (iphone 6)

i tested the bluetooth playback in my wife's 2014 sentra on the s5, and it seemed ok, but it was buggy. after a phone conversation, it didn't auto resume playing the song, takes time to start playing a song, song displayed on her nav not correct from what was actually playing, etc.

android has a long way to go to catch up with interfacing with OEMs.

Androids can do a lot of cool things and are more customizable (open), which is why they are very popular, but with that comes buggy software, especially since every phone manufacturer has their own versions of software, bloatware, updates, etc. This makes it extremely difficult for accessories manufacturers, app devs, OEMs, etc. to ensure their stuff will work with EVERY brand and EVERY version of Android. Apple is a little more locked down but for good reason. iOS is controlled by one company who also makes the phones they go with, so they are less prone to bugs and issues especially with updates (in general, they do have their fair share of bugs every now and then, like this 8.0.1 disaster that luckily they caught before a lot of people downloaded it!)

The comparison is almost identical to Windows vs. Mac. Macs are far more reliable, less prone to viruses, etc, but Windows is more customizable for sure, which is why in the early days of computers they succeeded more. I haven't made the switch to Mac yet, mostly because I only use my work laptop nowadays and they issue PCs so I have no choice, but I'll be in the market for a new personal laptop soon and will likely try out a MacBook. A friend of mine has one and it is his first Mac and while it took getting used to it, he still raves about it all the time.

yes, one of the bugs i discovered on the ATT S5 was that it would never actually sleep/suspend/idle or whatever you wanna call it.

i use my phone as an alarm clock so i leave it on my bed every night. my iphone 5s would lose 1% at the most.

i noticed on the S5 that after about 7 hours, it goes from 100% to 78% battery. it turns out that theres a bug in the 4.4.2 android kernel where the camera wakes the device unintentionally, even while idle. this bug has been around for almost a year, and ATT still doesnt have 4.4.4 in the horizon. verizon just released 4.4.4 a few weeks ago.

yet another problem with android. when an update is released, it has to come from google, then it needs to filter down to the manufacturer, then the provider...

back in 2009, i got sick of always fixing my wife's dell laptop due to sluggishness, viruses, broken hinges, etc. so i decided to get her a macbook pro and just call it a day. i planned on just telling her "you know more about that thing than i do, fix it yourself" if she ever needed help with it.

well, after i played around with it, i realized how awesome it was.

today, over 5 years later, the macbook still performs as well as it did when she first opened the box. i never had to do a fresh install of the OS, defrag, nothing. truly amazing.

i'd like to replace my gaming rig with a mac, but there are still some games that require windows, which is probably the only reason i still have a pc.

Oh but it really is. Why would any company other than Apple lock into an Apple proprietary connection.

I know you're obviously going to disagree but anyone that locks into Apple is a sucker.
Why would anyone lock into products that don't offer choice, have proprietary connectivity, and don't support open standards like microUSB, Qi, Miracast and NFC.

I'm not an Android users but Apple is falling behind. If you don't like the S5, fine. How many devices would you like to chose from of different price points, size, functionality and power.
They are playing catchup in functionality, the UI is dated, quality is not what it used to be, design is stagnant.

For a company that used to be considered innovative (I would argue they never were), until the watch they hadn't released a new product for almost 5 years. That's not innovative, that's embarrassing.

less prone to viruses
Just picking on one point. Current security vulnerability sites show Windows and Windows applications are more secure than OSX applications

It has aux in, any mp3/phone/tablet will work wired.

oh so instead of just plugging in my phone into usb and charging it at the same time, you're saying to get 3.5mm jack instead.

i considered that, but then i decided i don't want 2 wires coming out of my phone just to charge and listen to music at the same time.

Here maybe this will help since you want to shoot down everything

- Aux in - works with any device not just your phone
- Bluetooth streaming
- USB Key loaded with music - keep your phone for other things and no worry about draining/charging
- USB Drive - get a 2.5" 2TB drive, put all your media on it, create custom playlists and never worry about media again.

i know, i considered all those options when i had the S5 for 2 weeks. i really wanted to make the switch work out for me. but in the end, i felt like i was settling for a phone that didn't do everything i want it to do. like not lose 20% battery life in 8 hours and play pandora through my usb in my current car, which doesnt have bluetooth streaming.

i even made the effort to ask a ford sync mustang owner to see if his s5 plays pandora correctly thru bluetooth and he said yes.

i was willing to wait 2 months.
