No, they are metal because of the HUGE amount of heat that the brakes generate. Rubber will probably melt. That would be a bad thing. They don't line the inner walls of the CF wheels with a ceramic lining for nothing.

Yes, they need to share the same frequency range of (I believe) 315 Mhz. Not all TPMS sensors are in that frequency.

Yes, get the Ford TPMS-39's. I believe Ford may have updated the metal ones on later modes to be black, so Im not sure of that model number.

I have extra sets of custom wheels too. 3 sets to be exact. All Signature wheels. The stem hole in the wheels are cut to accept any universal TPMS/stem. That doesn't mean that you should use any generic stem/TPMS. It has to be a metal stem.

I just looked on ebay, and the seller isn't selling them anymore for that kind of money. The prices have gone up. I would stick with OEM Ford, no matter how much they cost.
I got great news, at least, for myself. I spoke with the DT this morning and he ordered these which I just asked about since your last post and he did confirm these are the ones he ordered which are compatible with my specific model. The only issue is their silver... I'll spend some time researching if I can get them in black.

Chrome is the original TPMS for model years through '18. I believe '19 and above may have black. Chrome? Black? its just a color preference. Find out the model of the TPMS. You are safe with TPMS-39. You are safe with Ford OEM. Vary from that, and you are on your own.

Yes indeed. Furthermore, someone said metal was used for speed reasons. I was always told it was for heat related issues.
The first Ford Shelby that ran metal valve stems was the 2013/14 GT500 with the 202 MPH top speed. The narrative at the time was that rubber stems leaked on high speed test runs. It could have been heat related, but think about it - if a rim gets hot enough to damage a rubber valve stem, then it's hot enough to damage the tire, and that's not a problem we hear much about.

The tire is on the other side of the wheel, which is on the other side of the ceramic layer (for CFTP and R models) which is not in direct venting or line of sight of the cherry red rotor and brake calipers.

The only way to get to the bottom of the design is to ask @BillyJRacing

Yes, hopefully he'll have some insight.

He developed the cars. I'm sure he knows. Whether he chimes in or not is another question. He's an enthusiast. I think he will help out.

Hopefully we get a clear answer. Also, looks like I will need a plan B. Are the P51 wheels good for our cars? I just want a set for the track. Was looking to stay OEM but can't find any good deals and if I'm going to pay $1000+ for OEM I might as well pay a bit extra for lighter wheels.

Related to this question - when getting new tires, do just the gaskets in the screw in head need to be replaced, or new stems?
