You guys are getting pretty technical here. Thanks. I think I’m just going to buy the wheels and test fit them with the oem lugs. I know what to look for in terms of how the nut seats into the wheel. The wheels, Vors DG38, are pseudo pp1 replicas.
Now I have to figure out if I need hub rings or not. The manufacturer says no, but the retailers all say yes. With these Chinese wheels, it’s a crapshoot.

Regardless, you should take the OEM lug nuts and throw them in a dumpster. Just do some basic research and you'll see why.
i tossed my factory lugnuts with the quickness after i butchered them changing from factory18x8 wheels to "PP-1" wheels/tires...the "coyote brand" from "AM" did not retain theirt color and finish, but at least they fit and don't distort when you put a socket on them.

I also ditched the OEM lugs, they’re garbage. I went with Gorilla, they make OEM size as well as small diameter for aftermarket wheel. They offer in chrome and black finish, CJPP carries them and I’m sure others do as well. Money well spent in my book

By wheel shop are you talking about Willy's corner customer wheels shop or a manufacture, like the folks that advertize

Not SO, you should follow you're own advice and do the research and the math. The truth will flabbergast you and blow that theory right out of the water.

The numbers that SO many like to spout, will confirm the error of that statement.

It's not the nuts it's the nut using the impact wrench.
If you love em. Knock it out. I've never seen a single solitary complaint from people using solid aftermarket nuts like Gorilla or any quality set.

Sometimes our car community is full of bad faith. We see a typical response like yours a lot with MT82 issues. "If you have issues, then you don't know how to drive."

It's the same as saying "If you have corrosion pockets in your paint, then you obviously don't know how to properly wash the car" or "If your A/C compressor goes out, then you obviously don't know how to operate the A/C button."

Lug nuts aren't supposed to come with a long list of tulip toeing to get them to function properly. As you can see from this thread (and many others) plenty of people have failures and issues with them and they're not all "nuts" or idiots who can't run a wrench or an impact.

But if you love 'em, great. Keep em. For everyone else....they're garbage design and poorly made. Throw them in the dumpster and spend the $60 to get some proper lug nuts. Better to spend $60 than take the chance you end up like these guys and face having to risk marring up the wheels to get a bad one out.

^^^ agreed…it’s not IF you will need to replace factory lugs, it’s WHEN you will need to replace factory lugs 😉

they are correct. need smaller lugs most the time.

I THINK they are called acorn style? I could be wrong. idr. I sold car. I paid I think 60-70 bucks for my gorilla chrome lugs. but I can't remember where from but it may of been 50. I really dont remember.

I think I paid 1500 for all 4. from discount tire, and I paid like 1000 for the rubber. it was like 2500 bucks otd. (off memory) I loved it. the car drove like a champ.

here are more pics.

I sold car. I thought I was going to get rich, tossed money from sale into stock market and lost it all lol.

Rohana RF2's in brushed titanium 19x9.5 offset 40.
Continental extreme contact dsw06 285/35/19

no spacer nothing, was a little inside from flush with car but it was perfect and kept rocks from paint. beautiful set up.

Ignore the lug nuts, this is before I got the gorilla lugs, this is all discount tire had for me to use til mine came a week later lol.

For the aftermarket wheels that have multiple lug patterns on them they usually use the super slim nuts that require a special tool. I have hated that on my winter tires. The tight clearance usually scrubs between the wheel and socket (thankfully there is a cap that covers the ugliness). Also have to carry the special tool all winter.

My wife's car needs new wheels. No way I'll buy some that don't use the standard lug nuts.

those wheels was absolutely stunning. loved it

I did ALL IN ON AMAZON CALLS lol. and amazon tanked when Biden got on tv and said economy was f'd...
so yeah. expired worthless. but it didn't bankrupt me, I am actually happier with it gone, not really but kinda. I dont worry about my scion, people was literally putting trash in my car, dip spit, pop bottles on it, someone popped deflated my tire twice at the gym, (not joking)
then had 5k of damage from hail, which was PDR'd

I just lost love after a lot of bad stuff happening. now that im back to ole trusty, it can get pelted/beatup/less stress now. so yeah, lost 25k + 10k mods. but I had a good time, got to have a sports car, and now I am sitting back and hitting $ at house. 2500 a month extra pirnicapl for 3.5 years til house is paid off.

but Rohanna wheels, was absolutely beautiful.

OP just get the wheels, if the lug spots are smaller, get the gorilla lugs. they are beast.
