Hey everyone,
So originally I was planning on doing a full detail on my car tomorrow after I pick it up from the dealership, Adam's paint sealant, h20 guard, and buttery wax. I'm only concerned with these three products as they cover the paint. I was watching some AMMO videos and the guy said something about letting the paint solvents evaporate (60-90 days) before putting anything on the paint. My car was built 16 days ago so I'm a little concerned that I wont be able to put any protection on the car for over a month. I did some researching before and another source said that all factory paint is oven baked so all the solvents are already evaporated before leaving the factory. I have no idea what information is correct and if I need to wait to seal it. I definitely don't want to trap gasses in the paint if this is the case. If anyone knows anything about this please let me know. Other than that I can't wait to get this car!
Thanks,
Kyle

I ussually wait at LEAST a month for washing, waxing, etc for new paint. 90 days seems a bit much however.

Is this because the paint is too soft or because the solvents need to evaporate?

The paint hardens fairly quickly its more so for the paint to fully cure. The gasses from the painting process need to evaporate.

This is from Mike Phillips @ Autogeekonline.net

"If you BOUGHT a new car or truck, the paint was baked on in an oven as the vehicle moved down the assembly line and by the time it pops out the other end the paint is fully cured. This means by the time it's transported to a dealership and you purchase it and drive it home it's completely safe to apply a wax or paint sealant."

Good source of products, I literally have there whole collection (all in the past month) haha.

Anyways, I would add a clay bar to your wash as well. You will get the best results before applying your sealant and wax.

Thanks everyone for the help, I'm really excited that I'll be able to use my new products on the car Saturday morning. I'll post pics after using the suite of Adam's products. So far I have the car shampoo, spray detail, paint sealant, h20 guard gloss, deep wheel cleaner, tire shine, all purpose cleaner, buttery wax, and revive hand polish so hopefully it's money well spent!

If you're going thru all the work to seal/wax, clay the car after washing. The clay will remove a lot of contaminants that washing will not touch.

Never too soon to protect your baby. I highly recommend Adam's cleaning supplies.

I got the car! The good news is the paint looks flawless with no wash or anything, and all the panels line up perfect. But, the dealer said that they put on Zurich Shield on the paint and I shouldn't wax for at least 6 months. Obviously this is a load of crap, or I can't wax my car for half a year, which I love doing. My thought is that they don't want people using other products and keep going back to reapply this stuff which tbh I don't even think they did apply it because the paint had fingerprints and light dust, which is fine because I told them not to wash. I think this is just their procedure and no one was informed because the car looks untouched to me. If water sheets on the paint tomorrow I'm doing a full detail. Even if this paint protectant is on there, I should be able to layer a wax on top of it right?

So if I read this right, you are saying that they applied a Zurich Shield sealant without washing the car first?!

No sorry lol, the paint looks fine I washed it today and there's nothing to worry with that, I'm not sure exactly what they did cause the car was a little dirty when I got it so it may have accumulated that dirt after they washed and put this stuff on or just lied about it. Either way I'm not stressing about it too much because I didn't pay for it and the paint has no swirls in it. I think I'm gonna go ahead with my own sealant and wax because I don't trust whatever this stuff is. After the manager told me not to wax for 6 months I asked my salesman if it would be okay if I sealed the car even with this shield thing on the car and he said it was fine. I'm sure it won't cause damage to the paint by putting a wax on the car!
