I believe it only resets at fill up, not while driving. Some have said it will adjust while driving, but that has not been my experience.
The reason it only seems to change when you fill up is because it's an estimate. If you're driving it with a lighter foot than whomever had it previously that estimated range is going to be way off. Happened all the time in my challenger v6 when I had that because my work commute was only about 3 miles. When I'd take a trip it would say around 350 miles to a tank but then I'd drive almost 300 miles and my estimated range was still close to 200.

Yes, it is an estimate. I was trying not to compare to other systems on other cars because it clearly works differently than what I have seen in the past. It appears to be a bit dumber than others I am used to seeing, for sure.

I do recall in my previous car that I was able to reset it and can on the mustang, however, mine does have the digital cluster and it may not be available on the one that OP has. I thought it would reset with your trip mileage and adjust once you start driving but I know it was stated that they tried that.

230 ish miles seems accurate. Filling up about 13 gallons brings that to 17 ish mpg, give or take. Depending on how one drives that's very normal for a GT. Suburban driving has me around 19 mpg. If I'm doing city driving that plummets to about 15. Shifting under 3k can keep the mpg up, bring that shift point over 3k and that drops to about the 15 mpg.

As people have pointed out, none of us are getting over 300 on an average tank. I got 450 once but that was a road trip.

Double the cylinders to your ecoboost and more power than that v6, you're not going to get the same mileage without adjusting driving habits.

You need to look at ALL the variables for this.

For example, mine can say 50 miles to empty and 3 minutes later it says 15 miles to empty.

Why is that?

Ainā€™t that the truth! But once sheā€™s juiced up, she is definitely the life of the party šŸ¤£

That should not happen. Once I get the 50 miles to empty warning it goes down 5 miles at a time. Honestly knowing how accurate the gauge is in the Mustang Iā€™ve never gone below 20 miles.

When I first got my 22, it estimated somewhere in the low 200s on a full tank. Mpg was low in the trip views, and it bugged me for a while. Once i ran some tanks through it and then took a road trip to the east coast (from Texas), i started seeing that estimate to be more like 300 or more. I think the car has an average it goes off of, but didn't do the leg work to tell if it was any of the visible ones.

One tank when we were driving through South Carolina in a very conservative manner, it actually topped 26 mpgs. Blew my mind and I never saw that high again, must of that trip was around 23-24. Now back on my daily commute, I average between 19 and 21 depending on traffic and how much I need to feel the speed!

after 2 fill ups from my first post, it finally hit 300 plus like iā€™ve seen on my past 2 mustangs. I was at 30 miles to empty and it took 15 gallons on the dot to fill up. Iā€™ve never had the pump go more than 14 gallons lol but not complaining. I know itā€™s just an estimate but still :)
