Diode Dynamics LED map lights...

I have a Premium EcoBoost Convertible. I bought Diode Dynamics replacement LEDs for most of the bulbs. The DD video shows how easy it is to replace the map lights. However, my convertible map light housing is not just a simple holding bracket for the lights. It has multiple wiring and the lights are not just slipped into place in a simple bracket. There is a interior black plastic shell guarding the lights. Has any one replaced the map bulbs yet?
The video does talk about the possibility of popping off the clear lenses, then pulling out the bulbs. Is this the simplest way in a convertible?

I popped off the housing, unscrewed the bulb harness out of the hole, and replaced the bulb from there.

You guys should just develop a whole new map light housing. That thing is such an eyesore and seriously think that is the only thing they carried over from 05. It is literally the same piece.
