Hey all,
Not that far back I installed Diode Dynamic's 4th brake light and tail light sequencer. It took me a bit to notice, but I was getting FM radio static every time I hit the brakes.
I did some research and it seems that LED lights can cause RFI. Some more research revealed that Ferrite beads can help eliminate that. I ordered a few of them with the intention of putting them on all the brake light wires. Then it dawned on me that it was probably just the jumper wire that leads down to the reverse light/brake light. I installed one and it drastically improved the problem. I still get a little bit from time to time, but I don't listen to the radio much so I can deal with it.
I emailed DD to give them a heads up, and they knew it caused static from time to time and suggest the Ferrite bead as well. Maybe their engineers will come up with something, but until then...
I got the beads from Amazon. I can post a link if anyone is experiencing the same problem. They fit well on the wire, but as a side note I didn't wire mine up the way Diode Dynamics suggests. I ended up buying a an OEM Ford plug with spliceable pigtail and if I remember the wiring is a little thicker gauged, so the bead might move around a hair if you use DD's jumper wire only.
