The video(s) and printed instructions for installing the DD side markers leave out an important factor: The male wiring connector tab in the new side markers is not fixed in position!
The instructions show the installer simply inserting the new side marker into the female OEM wiring harness. The male connector is NOT fixed inside the marker. It is connected to about a 1/2-1 inch long wire. If you follow the instructions, the male connector will simply be pushed back into the side marker without making a true connection!
You will need a small needle nose pliers (and a optional tube of dielectric grease).
1) carefully and gently grasp the male connector with the pliers and pull it out gently so that all of the connector tab is out of the side marker. Don't pull so hard you break the wiring!
2) Optionally, put a small dab of dielectric grease on the male connector to prevent any future moisture corrosion.
3) Check on the orientation of the metal female socket clips. Using the pliers, hold the male connector behind the metal male tab and insert the male connector into the female socket.
4) Push the two parts together and rotate the female socket 1/4 turn to lock the connection.
5) Don't pop the side markers in until you have checked to see if they light up!
