Anyone having this? Fresh from the dealer on my way home, noticing some difficulties getting it in 4th. Couple of times I really had to jank it.. Obviously new car, getting used to etc, but just curious whether I should drive it back to the shop right away

Should be no difficulties. I have no issue.

Make sure you're always pushing the clutch all the way to the floor with each shift. The manual points this out as well. It should save you from some serious issues down the road even if it's not entirely comfortable.

Out of the countless manual cars I've owned in my life, this is probably my least favorite. Lots of movement and non-linear clutch feel. It's also a remote mounted shifter so lockouts and "jams" aren't necessarily unusual but that's more of a general type of issue, not specific to one gear. Overall, changing out the helper spring helps with the clutch a little bit but it's just a bandaid IMO. Ultimately, with a Steeda helper spring, BF bracket, and Boomba short shift, I'd say it's livable but it still gets on my nerves every day...

Thanks - read it as well; being from Europe I have never driven anything else than a manual, but also never owned a new car. Can be that this is less forgiving, I'll focus on fully clutching tomorrow. Thanks again

I had a problem getting into 4th today. Was doing a hard pull up the interstate, didn't go into 4th completely, and rode it out for a few seconds with the clutch in to avoid grinding gears.

I never had issues with 4th gear. I had a couple of mishaps with 1st gear where I thought I was in 1st completely but I wasn't and when I tried to take off, the gearbox made that grinding noise ! You look like stupid and see people look at you as if you have never driven a manual. Coming from Europe also, I have always driven manual cars. Now I now and pay attention to put first gear all the way up.
This weekend my transmission and differential fluids will be changed with BG Synchroshift II fluids from Optimum Performance. We'll see what that does...

Being from the UK I have only ever driven manual (for 13 years in total) and I can say that having owned my GT350 for a month now and covered 500 miles in it the transmission does get easier. Not sure if it just 'breaks in' after the first few hundred miles but mine has gotten noticeably smoother, probably getting more familiar with the feel of the clutch and shifter helped too.

I had some minor problems with 1st and 4th during the first few days in particular.

Sorry you're having an issue but I have not experienced this.

I think part of my issue is I had the MGW with a heavy weight knob on my 15 plus BG synchroshift fluid for almost two years, so I'm still trying to get used to the taller and lighter throw.

Peter, please report back on how/if the synchroshift II fluid changes anything in the way the shifter behaves.

Thx

I did the BG swap on my 15. You won't feel anything on the differential, that's just for security measures. But on the MT82 the trans fluid made a big difference in notchiness.
