For example the number 100 weighs 21.75 oz (under standard Earth gravity):

I agree. Just think it's funny. If we're right, it should just say "approximately" 100. Or something similar to boxes/bags of some snacks that say package may be partially empty due to settling. LoLThat is a bit baffling at first, but I think they must be referring to the boxes being “weigh counted”. In other words, if you know the weight of one glove, then 100x that weight is approx 100 pcs. Might get an extra one or be short one.
I don't think that's how that works. For example the number 100 weighs 21.75 oz (under standard Earth gravity):

Yes, the place I work packs a lot of things by weight, so it is a calculated count. Makes more sense than hand counting. Some products might lend themselves to having the machines themselves counting product, but with ours it is not practical.I don't think that's how that works.
It's more like they're packed by weight. As in a machine at the factory knows the approximate weight of 100 of that particular glove and packs the boxes based on that.
A box of 100 5 mil Nitrile gloves will weigh less than a box of 100 10 mil Nitrile gloves, but both will be packed by weight.
It's easier to pack alot of things by their known weight vs counting them or packing by volume.
