So my reverse collar seems to be broken or I popped it out of place. I can't seem to reattach it anywhere. I have the Barton shifter.

Can I just order the boomba short shift and replace this thing? Or is there a way to remove the lockout feature all together?

Looks like the glue that holds it to the bottom piece failed. Can u still lift up on the boot and shift into reverse?

I can still put it in reverse but it's hard to do. Almost need one person to lift it up from the bottom with two hands and another to shift it.

I opened it up but couldn't take off the shift knob. Going to have to heat up the loctite to get it off. Once it's off I'll take a few photos to show what it looks like.

The collar is attached via a bad glue job. Would have been better if they designed it with a locking mechanism but that would make too much sense. $80 for the collar and pleather piece.

So this piece is back ordered until November. Tried gluing it back but it comes undone after a day. This is a weak link in the Barton package. It might be that the reverse lockout mechanism is heavier on the Barton but really it's just a poorly made collar.

If someone wants to make me a black metal replacement piece I'd happily buy it. Also I think the silver wrap on this collar looks cheap so replacing it with black would be an improvement. I really like the Boomba shifter especially since it has a nice reverse collar. Just waiting to hear from Barton to see if the Boomba will fit in the Barton housing.

Got an update from Barton. They are in the process of making their own collar to replace the stock version. Very happy about this news. I love the Barton shifter and I'm sure the collar will definitely be an upgrade from the current one.

This exact thing just happened to mine. I'm in the same boat. Apparently Ford is redesigning the reverse lockout mechanism? This two piece plastic junk apparently isn't a Barton design issue, but they're willing to take care of their customers just the same.

Ehdrian I ended up using an epoxy to glue it back and its held up so far. I think Ford is rethinking the piece because it wasn't available for purchase when I tried a few weeks ago.

MGW gets rid of the pull up reverse by changing to a push down reverse

The Barton collar is real nice. I got mine from UPR. Did you check with them?

No, I ordered from cjpp cause it was cheaper,. It was on sale for 39.99, I believe upr wanted like $50-60. I'll wait it out, just kind of an inconvenience having to use 2 hands to pull up on the reverse feature. I do have the barton shifter, so it's not so bad...at least I know it will slide into reverse
