Detailing question on 2020 GT Premium

I have a 2020 GT Premium 401a and my window sticker says the interior is leather trimmed... Is the top dashboard leather or is it vinyl? I’m asking because I want to make sure I use the correct cleaner on it and not ruin or discolor it. Thanks

I am pretty sure that most of the surfaces are leatherette (vinyl). The only real leather parts are the middle part of cushion where you sit, and the middle of backrest. I believe the sides (and back, and headrests) are actually vinyl. I am pretty sure the back seats are entirely vinyl as well.

With that being said, I am pretty sure ford didnt "splurge" and put genuine cowhide on the dash.

Correct. Only the front of the seat bottom and upper seat back is leather. The rest of the seat is synthetics.

If your dash has real stitching, I don’t recall if the cover was actually leather - it could have been a “leather like” synthetic as well. The regular dash padding is a synthetic formed rubber/foam based product. It has that “soft” touch to it and is pliable.

Even if you accidentally got leather cleaner on it, it would not hurt it at all.

Lots of people think it's leather though. Evidently it's a pretty convincing vinyl/synthetic.

Todays leatherettes are very good. The way to care for real leather is don't do it. People ruin leather by constantly putting cleaners or conditioners on.

Meguiars All Purpose Cleaner diluted 10:1 or Chemical guys All surface Cleaner. After that Chemical Guys VRP straight or 1:1

For the "leather look" dashboard, in terms of cleaning I would simply wipe with a damp microfibre cloth. I only use APC on interior plastics for removing stains or smudges, otherwise water is all that is needed.

To dress the dashboard, I use CarPro Perl or 303 Aerospace. Both of these leave a matte finish and leave the areas treated with a natural low gloss sheen. They also have some UV protection elements to them as well. I apply these products every 1 to 2 months, using a microfibre pad. Also, spray the pad with the product and not directly onto the surface to avoid over-spray onto the glass.

Anything you would use on leather should be safe on vinyl and vice versa. For good cleaning i like P&S xpress interior cleaner. I am coating seats with Gyeon shield.

I use Pinnacle Black Label Leather & vinyl coat on anything else. Last alot longer than 303 which is second best for me.

for weekly dust upsI use the P&S xpress or Adam’s quick interior detailer.
