This is mostly an FYI. If you track your car often, keep an eye on the rubber spring perches in the front suspension. This can be a very high heat area, especially under "red flag" conditions in hot ambient temps (no airflow, lots of heat collecting). In the pic, you can see the perch being pushed out from under the spring (above the strut). It's actually deformed, and melted outwards. I'm not in a rush to fix it, but it's something to be aware of.

Anyone else push these out? I wonder about just ditching them altogether.

Those spring pads are tough - designed to take a pounding for decades. Are these factory springs? If so, then it's covered by warranty. If it's an aftermarket spring, then either it's installed incorrectly or the end of the spring isn't quite shaped correctly and it's not sitting in exactly the right place in the seat.

Here's what my (stock) perch on the same side looks like - this picture is from the same point of view as the one above, but it's closer in and above so you can see the spring sitting in the rubber holder. It doesn't look similar to the OP's picture:

Misalignment was my first thought when I saw the picture. I recently changed the struts in my '04 WRX and it was a pain to get the new spring pad to line up with the spring when assembling the new strut.

Can you get a better picture - more from the top like @JAJ ?

Hmmm... The rubber pads have a tab that drops through the strut, and is still aligned in there. The pad can only be installed one way. The end of the spring “butts” against a step on the rubber pad and is still aligned there too. I’ll keep an eye on it.

There are two rubber posts that go through the spring perch. I can only see one in your picture, but the strut might be blocking the view:

I just checked mine and they are still perfect after 13000 miles using aftermarket (Steeda) springs. As do others, I think you have an installation problem.
