Was on vacation in Vegas this summer and did the exotic car track experience in a Lamborghini Huracan. The “Butt dyno” did not feel much different than my Mach 1. Got to a sub 1min lap. Would love to see what I could do on that track in my Mach 1.

Regardless did not feel compelled to spend $300k on a Lamborghini for the small delta. Testament in my mind to how good the Mach 1s are.

I have never personally looked at the exotics as better performers in the same way a timex and Rolex both tell time effectively. There's a slew of different reasons why one would purchase that car over a Mach.

However I am happy to see the mustang really starting to give other manufacturers a run in this modern era

I did 20 laps (58.18 sec fastest lap) in an AMG GT-R and it was definetly and noticeably better track car than my Mach 1. Twin turbo charged V8, super slick paddle shifted 8 or 9 speed trans and 4 wheel steer. I know if I pushed my car as hard as I pushed the Benz it wouldn’t turn out good. Now, was it worth 3-4 times the money? That’s a different matter. The Mach in my opinion is a heck of a value and a damn good car but it’s not a supercar.

For everyday “spirited” street driving, I’ll take my good old USA built Mach 1 over a foreign supercar every time and love every minute of it. If I ever wanted a “supercar”, the C8 Corvette is the best bang for the buck ever.

Hope this is a joke, cause the Huracan will destroy the MACH 1 in every conceivable way lol.

Lordy I love those. I have my eye on some form of GT in a few years.

Not suggesting that the Mach 1 is equivalent to a Huracan. Hence the thread title "delusions of grandeur"

After several track days in the Mach 1 though I take it as a win that I was comfortable getting into the Huracan and driving it to that level.

This is the problem with this comparison. I guess Huracan would not be very good for shopping or a family trip.

My buddy has a Huracan Tecnica and I have put some miles on it for him. (He also has a modified 19 NSX I have driven back to back with my 350R)

Maybe it was just being out on the track vs. Driving on the street but yeah when you drive them back to back... I mean you are talking mid 10 second 1/4 mile vs low 12s ... let's just day driven back to back there is a BIG difference lol

Some are missing the point here. We all drive what we can afford. Each putting a value on car vs. house payments vs. kids.
I have no doubt that someone that can afford a Lambo could care less how close a US made car can come to a Lambo's performance. Just as a S550 owner could care less about someone's Honda with a wing. It is all relative, isn't it?
There is no doubt that the basic pony car is the best bang for the buck. It always has been and always will be. I won't spend a dime on an import from any other country ever again.
We cab all be proud of what Ford and Chevy have produced. Sorry Mopar.. Loose some weight and learn how to turn and I might change my mind.
Go Blue Oval. First On Race Day.

I've driven a GTR on the track, but my Mach 1 only on the road. That said, I agree with you. I love my car, but it's not a GTR. Is the GTR worth the extra money, that's a personal decision.
