What happened at VIR?
They blew an engine at the race on one of the GT350's. And it was reported that they where having some issues arising after running a few races.

Al, there is more to this delay than meets the eye!

I would suggest that a very select few individuals at Ford know exactly what is causing this delay whether it be a parts shortage, quality control issues, pushing regular 2016 Mustangs out to the public ahead of our 2015's, shortage of rail cars, waiting for upcoming journalist reviews or some internal directive from the executive level dictating this hold back?

Whatever the case may be I would suggest that all of our friends at Ford Performance are just messengers and are not privy to what the real reason for the delay is?

Obviously Ford Performance is in a difficult position and I personally feel bad for them based on some of the calls that they must receive from certain enthusiasts?

I have my own thoughts as to the delay?

Sooner or later we will find out what was really is taking place in Flat Rock/Dearborn and once we receive our 2015 cars it will mostly be forgotten?

Oh yeah Harry... who knows at this point. They're actually very friendly and I typically make my call courteous & quick so I don't waste their/my time. They even tell me check daily or a few times per week for any latest updates. :thumbsup:

Yup. FP has told me mine is one of the last 2015's to roll off.... on 7/29 as fully built. I'm tired of looking at pics on the interwebz.... wanna see it in my garage. Heck I wanna sleep in it! :headbonk:

I have been hearing through the racing grape vine that the 180 crank is causing a lot of vibration issues, cracked bellhousings, starters falling off, etc.

They have been hitting other cars or the wall. Nothing to do with mechanicals. Lousy luck and driving I've watched all of the events. First out of the box they finished 1-2 then IMSA added weight.
They totaled one car and built a new one in one week. The race car is very competitive and has won two races and has only been in 4 races so far. Bad luck has been their big problem. Not parts falling off wtf !!!!! Really. They have had one component failure only ....header bolts.The engine failure are the Z/28's. But IMSA has placed restrictors on the V/8's and on the long straight's it killing them.

Car 158's transmission stuck in gear at VIR after what appears to be some sort of contact & they crashed the green car in practice, Exhaust Header problem @ Road America, and issues with the brakes so far this season. One GT350RC took the other out at Lime Rock. Not sure how to insert a Youtube video but they talk about it at the 1:07 mark on this video

Brother.... You can't just say something like that without evidence to back it up.

No it was a boss 302R that took out the ShelbyGT 350R-C .

All appear to be issues that you would expect to see in a new race car. I could not find the engine failure on the videos? I hope that they apply what they learn on the track to the '16's.

Al, if your car was the last of the 50th Anniversary 2015 GT350's to roll off of the assembly line that would be really cool in my opinion!

I had an interesting conversation this afternoon with a person who has been with Ford for 42 years and he was told that the issue on the 2015 GT350 cars has been a hood alignment issue therefore the cars are not being released until this issue has been addressed and corrected.

As we all know these Shelby hoods are unique to these GT350 cars but I am not sure if I believe this information but that is the best that I have been able to come up with so far.

Hopefully someone can either confirm this information or has better information than I have come up with?

I'm fine with that or whatever further QC they need to do... the more it's scrutinized, the better the chance any imperfection is identified, and the better it's corrected properly while at the assembly plant... better them than at a dealership who has minimal to no experience yet with this new Shelby.

That is incorrect the GT350R-C ran into the back of the other GT-350R-C at Lime Rock. The kid (driver) from NC said he had missed a shift and ran into the back of his teammate. Got the Race on DVR and just watched it again b4 posting back.

Could have been 1st & 2nd place finish for the GT350R-C if that didn't happen. But the Kid at least redeemed himself and won the race for Ford!

Ok there was another race that a boss took out the 350.

Mosport in Canada, Boss was passed by 350R and took the 350R out
