Were you getting any DTC’s before pulling the IMRCs?

If the IMRC flap for that cylinder got jammed, it’s possible the heat from the head and chamber prematurely deteriorated the flap. As far as melted plastic affecting anything, the heat and movement from internal parts would be so excessive that any tiny bits were probably obliterated. If it were metal bits, yes, there would be greater concern.

I think there is a Ford TSB or SSM regarding the S550 Coyote IMRCs for premature failure and replacement is warranted.

IMO, the IMRC system has been garbage since the release of the 1996 DOHC... it was such a problem back then, that folks were buying the IMRC deletes. I don’t know why Ford hasn’t come up with a better intake system by now.

Those IMRC flaps should be made of metal really, because then there’s no room for failure.
