I was doing the basic of mods, on my brand new 17' GT, replacing the rear GT badge, and I scratched the panel in a few areas. They are very minor surface scratches, but this panel is so f'n glossy it shows everything. I assume it's not painted, looks to be a clear resin on plastic. If it is paint I'd take a rubbing compound to it, but I don't think it is. Does anybody have any suggestions?

It's actually painted or more like clear coated. Most shiny plastics on cars are painted to protect UV damage.

I really like Meguiars products.

This would make since. So what did you use on yours?
I am gonna say Scratch X 2.0 is finer than PlastiX. PlastiX is good for removing oxidation but it leaves a bit of fine swirls compare Scratch X.

If I'm going to try anything, the finer the better. I'll try to take pics tonight.

There is a pic on here somewhere where a guy tried to polish out scratches and it pretty much ruined it. Threat top layer of clear looked like it opened wide up after his buffing. Sorry can't remember what thread it was in.

Decklid isn't painted or cleared it's ABS plastic, after replacing (3) of them I just had the damn thing wrapped in XPEL Ultimate. Don't bother trying to repair it, just buy a new one and do the same... speaking from experience of course. :headbonk:
