has anyone looked into opening up the headlight and pulling out all the chrome or painting all the chrome black and getting rid of the reflector? Curious to see what it would look like.

Unfortunately you can't just bake these open, they have to be cut. That said, go the quick and inexpensive route and get they blackout vinyl from Anchor Room.

Here's a quick before/after:

not sure about your state but that reflector in the headlight is there for a reason.

we all do illegal things to our cars so why stop at the reflectors?

Because doing things to make your car less visible to other drivers isn't really smart. It is also incorrect that you cannot bake these open. These ARE permaseal, but not all permaseal has to be cut open. It takes a lot more time, patience, and effort, but it can be done.

So when I'm driving down the road at night w/out my lights on other's headlights will reflect off the side markers before they t-bone me.

Duly noted: Don't drive w/out lights on. But wait, we have drls visible from the side that can't be disabled too. I should talk to Norm about those. :headbonk:

The point is they are there by law. If you wanna break it, go for it.

In Fla I am not in violation. Passenger cars aren't required to have side markers, but when they do they have to be amber in the front and red in the rear.
