Dealer location:
AutoNation Ford, Frisco, TX
Salesperson: Scott Alter, Sr.

Who I am :
Male, White, 42 - I dress nicely, but very casually.

Recommended:
Yes

Experience:
I actually had another Ford Dealer (Five Star Ford in Plano) who we bought my Wife's Explorer searching for my car. But I got one email saying "None are available. Sorry." and no follow-up. Additionally, I didn't like finance. While my sales people were nice enough, I was not a fan of finance. (So, this was a "No" for Five Star Ford in Plano, TX snuck into my positive review of AutoNation Frisco).

So, I'd been religiously searching dealer inventory in the area and late on Friday - after I'd decided I was going to have to order - one popped up with the exact options and color I wanted into inventory at AutoNation Frisco. The only thing it had I hadn't planned to order was "Premier Trim." In Retrospect I am glad it had it. I didn't know I wanted it until I saw it! I couldn't believe the exact car I was going to order was actually in inventory at a local dealership!

Anyway, I emailed immediately (the dealership was closed) thinking I'd have to call or email again first thing Saturday morning. However, I had two emails from Scott Alter when I woke up at 8am. One confirming a below sticker price I was happy with (prior to rebates) and another confirming they would hold it for me until I got there around 9:30am. I emailed back immediately and got a response in real-time confirming the previous two emails received.

When I drove up he'd just pulled it from around back and parked it near the front. He took my wife and I immediately to the car, unlocked it, took my DL to make a copy and let us get in and look it over. He brought my DL back and told us to take it out for a drive.

Once back from the test drive, we went inside to discuss while they looked at my trade and came back with a paper showing the exact price they'd give me for my car and exactly how much it'd be total that I'd be financing with TT+L. They didn't low ball on the trade, it was very fair. So, after talking to my wife for a bit we decided to go ahead and do it. No pressure, no haggling, no weird four square pricing. Just straight numbers I could understand.

I had financing already arranged, but they asked if they could try and beat it; I said sure. Well, they came back and beat what I already had arranged. Once in finance he told me the exact payment and percentage rate I'd get even if I didn't take any "add-ons" like extended warranty, etc. (It's a game to lower percentage on financing if you buy extras at some dealerships). It was a done deal. He did go ahead and offer a Ford ESP plan, which was priced fairly and matched the lowest price I could get online - without me haggling over it. I added that, window tint and the wheel protection+PDR and was done.

After all was said and done I was in and out in a matter of 2 hours and change, and they'd sold an EB Mustang they'd had on there lot for a day.

Well, the story isn't over: I drove it off the lot and the A/C was blowing hot air. For those that saw my post in the Warranty area, you'll know the AC compressor was out. I called and got a response immediately - bring it back and they diagnosis it. So, I brought my car back and they (obviously) needed to keep it to diagnose further.

They brought be a Ingot Silver V6 with the 051a package (18 in wheels, fog lamps and a little spoiler I hated) to use until they could fix mine. I had that car the rest of Saturday, Sunday, Monday and into Tuesday evening. On Monday he emailed and said they'd figured out it was the AC compressor and had to order the part and it'd be in on Tuesday morning.

Tuesday he called later in the afternoon and said the car was ready to go. He'd put nitrogen in the tires and had the 3M door guards put on. Handed me back my keys and I was good to go.

While I was disappointed I had to return the car immediately for warranty work, they handled it professionally and multiple people apologized profusely. They gave me a nice car as a loaner and didn't complain when I returned it with over 200 miles on the OD.

I'd definitely buy from the again - they were top notch, professional and above board in all aspects.

Summary:
Recommended highly. Professional, honest and fair in all aspects - including finance - which isn't always the case in dealerships.

Although I have never personally bought from one, from reading on several mustang forums, I hear good things about the auto nation franchise.

There are no auto nation dealers here in Alabama, but for the right deal, I would seriously consider buying a plane ticket to buy from one of their stores.

I've heard others not happy with AutoNation, but if I remember correctly those were mostly in California. I can only say my experience was top-notch with no hassles.

Update

dealer: Quality Automall in Rutherford, NJ

So I finally got the car! 2 months from order to delivery

A little update, guys. Finally got my car! Quality automall in Rutherford, NJ was excellent to deal with. The smoothest transaction possible. First, they accepted xplan with no problem. Secondly, they're all pleasant to deal with. I didn't get a sense of them talking down to me. Thirdly, my salesman Andy Galea was excellent with answering questions, he's always eager to give updates (within normal limit of course, I'm not one to bother anybody when I know it's out of their control.) I never got the sense that I'm a bother to him every time I call him. He always have the time to speak with me. He returned my phone calls and even called me in his own just to touch bases with me and keep me updated. Also, this dealer does not exert pressure to buy even up until time to sign the papers and discuss the extended warranty.

would I recommend?: Yes, I highly recommend this dealer and Andy Galea.

That's funny All American Ford Hackensack is where I bought my Mustang from. Guess I'll contribute to the thread.

Who I am: 25 year old white male shopped with my dad
Dealer: All American Hackensack NJ
Recommend: Yes

To start it off, these guys are the only ones to give me the price that I was looking for. Every other ford dealer in the area was very stringent on their price.

The way I actually got there was a classic bait and switch, though. I did some email negotiations and when I got there the car I wanted wasn't there and the price I wanted was unacceptable. They tried selling me to a base V6 without the 051a package for the price I was looking for. I negotiated for the 051a and got pretty close to what I wanted, but said no thanks and left.

Black Friday deals came along and I knew I could get a good deal on a V6 here so I went back but asked for a different sales guy. I ended up working directly with the sales manager and going back and forth until I got "an unusually low price" according to true car on a V6 they had on the lot. I left a refundable deposit and ended up picking up the car a few days later.

I bought the extended warranty for what I thought was a decent price but when I got home and checked the numbers they added on $400 to it for some bullshit registration fee. I've since canceled it. I guess they're like everyone else as they will try to screw you. But if you know what you're doing you will probably get the best deal from here.

Another good thing about these guys is their service. I had issues with my brand new car. There was a small dent and the catalytic converter was bad. They got everything fixed and ready to go ASAP and really went out of their way to keep me satisfied.

I recommend them because every dealer pulls the same bull shit bait and switch and tries screwing you when it comes to paperwork. Just know what you're doing and you can get a car for a good price here and get excellent service afterwards.
I want to update my opinion on All American Ford of Hackensack NJ. Do I recommend? NO.

A piece of the plastic door panel on my car broke, which leaves it hanging and causes a rattle. I went to them on Saturday to see what's up and they told me I had to come during a weekday because they had a special guy who they need to take a picture of it to send to Ford and only HE could do it. I went again on a weekday. I waited an hour and a half for them to take a picture! Eventually they told me Ford approved the picture and they're getting the new piece of plastic door panel.

What is pissing me off though is I think the dealer took a joy ride in my car during that time. The car was off for an hour and a half and when they pulled up with the car the cylinder heads were 235 degrees. Not only that the seat position was completely different. I didn't check the mileage before and after but I'm pretty sure it went up at least 10 miles. What the fuck? All they need to do is take a god damn picture.

That's not all, though. These guys are taking their sweet ass time canceling my extended warranty plan. I canceled it at the end of December and I still have it. The reason I'm cancelling it is because they tried ripping me off. I bought it for $1200 (which I learned afterwards isn't even a good price) but they snuck in some bull shit $400 'registration fee' so someone can process it and send it to Ford. Not surprisingly when I went to the dealer for the picture my finance guy wasn't there and now he doesn't return my phone calls, either.

Stay away from this dealer!

Dealer: Sam Pack's 5-Star Ford

Who I am : A 53 year old "jeans and henley shirt" who drove a '13 GT onto the lot to "take a peek" at the 2015's.

Recommended: Resounding YES

Experience:
Drove into the dealer to have a look at the new '15's. Really didn't intend to buy, but had already done my homework. I knew what my trade was worth (and that it was "certified" worthy), I knew what the invoice pricing was on the new ones. It was NFL Playoff Saturday. It was raining. There were 10 salesmen standing around with no customers. Salesperson was INCREDIBLY knowledgeable - and he was only 21 year old. He's a stang driver himself. I knew what I wanted the deal to be, and it took me about 2 hours to get there - I pushed them on my trade value and the car price. Walked out happy with the results of both. Beat X-Plan AND got what I wanted for my trade. Not once during negotiations did it turn contentious or get tedious. Everyone was upbeat and we knew we'd hit a deal.

Summary:
Knowledgeable about the product, fair and courteous sales negotiation and finance was a breeze. I'd buy my next car from them in a heartbeat.

I see you changed your tune. I highly not recommend them. So I guess no matter how good you have your head screwed right they will get one or more past you. I just knew they are sleaze bags there judging from my encounter with that floor manager. Who freaking ask for a potential customer's card for a non-refundable deposit without reaching a deal on out the door price? The best thing I did there was walk away. Good luck.

Dealer Review - Ray Skillman Performance Ford

Dealer location: Greenwood (Indianapolis metro), Indiana

Who I am : 28, male, dressed for work (shirt and tie)

Recommended: Yes

Experience:
Good experience overall--The internet sales department with whom I had been working was not available so I worked with another salesman, who seemed knowledgeable about the vehicles. I asked to see two cars and was given plenty of freedom to test drive them as I saw fit so I could be comfortable with the decision, even given 6:00 PM traffic in a crowded area. Their used vehicle department test drove my trade (with me along for the ride--nice touch) and came up with a value that met my expectations. Though we didn't strike a deal that night, we ended up reaching a deal via email the next day so I made the 120 mile trek back up to Greenwood to sign papers and pick up the vehicle. There was little pressure to make a deal, which I appreciated. They were certainly accommodating to my needs and wants and the salesman came into work early that Saturday to get me out the door early since I had a deadline to meet back at home.

Summary:
This is a no-hassle dealership who specializes in performance vehicles and caters to the needs of their customers. I recommend them if you are within a few hours' drive and are looking for a vast inventory.

Recommend: Yes

Experience: First went to this dealership at an All Fords car show in early Sept.
2014. Went back on 9/20 and ordered my car. No problems accepting X-Plan.
Was given updates on delivery and received vin on 11/13. I received the blend
date for 1/5/15 and the car arrived 1/15/15 with a $500.00 rebate. Because of
the time it took from order to delivery the dealer installed my Sto & Show front plate bracket & the Raxiom rear light sequencers at no charge. Very good experience from start to finish.

I wanna add that I asked for the switched $500 rebate and the manager gave me $750 private cash offer on top of that without me asking for it. Boy, was I glad.
