Dad's F-150 needs new 5.0

'13 Platinum with 68k miles. Was just told today that cylinder 7 has low compression. New engine is required. 8 week lead time for a long block, heads have no ETA at this time. His extended warranty runs out at 70k.. Lucky yes, but this thing only went 68k miles. We thought it was going to be a coil pack. Had a rough idle for years and Ford said it was nothing to worry about. Finally got a trouble light last week and it was running rougher at the time.

We feel like there should possibly be a little more investigating to see what the issue may be other than shotgunning the whole engine.

Anyhow, just sharing..

8 week lead time for a long block, heads have no ETA at this time

Why does it need heads if it's already getting new longblock?

They were saying that it may just be the heads but they have no ETA on them.. So a long block is what they were going to do but even that was 8 weeks out.

He's gone back to the dealership today to have them pull the valve cover and do a little more investigating.. Doesn't really want to do a long block if not necessary.
