My new truck is a regular cab short bed XLT 4x4 with the 5.0/10-speed in Stone Gray. My '13 Jeep was starting to annoy me over the last couple of years with repairs that no vehicle with under 60,000 miles should ever have, so one day I built a new truck online on a whim and this one popped up on an inventory search sitting on a lot in northern MN. Exactly as I would have equipped it except I would have chosen silver, but it's something different color-wise (my DDs for the last two decades have been silver) and the trade deal I got couldn't be beat. I'll have to take a few shots of it one of these days, the color shifts a lot between gray with a touch of bronze to almost brown depending on lighting. I'm liking it, the thing has balls too.
We looked at a lot of them on the lots, but ended up ordering mainly because it gave us a window of a couple of months to figure out all of the financial parts of it. With all of the 0% financing, are paying off a lot of it but leaving money in investments beyond a certain finance amount. We originally were going to sell or trade the Mustang with this, but in the end decided to keep it for now, just cannot get over how much I like the thing.

Looked at all of the colors as well, but my wife and I decided a few years ago after seeing Blue Jean in person that we would get that color if we got a truck and we stuck with it. My kids really wanted Abyss Grey, but a) it was not available in Platinum trim and b) could not see that as the color for a very long term truck. Originally wanted to talk myself into a Raptor, went in expecting to love it, but after driving a couple they really did not resonate with me like I expected them to. Could see it as a weekend toy, but definitely not a daily driver for me.

I like the Stone Gray, kind of reminds me of the Champagne color that I had on a Mercury Mystique a while back. Agree it is interesting with the almost pearlescent type of effect. Also considered the 5.0, drove both, but in the end the extra torque of the Ecoboost won out.

Nice! I have an F150 on order, should be here in 1 week that will take over DD duties from the Mustang. Will use the Mustang as a good weather, weekend or evening warrior after that comes in.
You are very welcome! After you spend some time in the truck you would give you Mustang up before the Truck! I love my Truck!

I would probably have ordered, but since mine would have been equipped the same except for color I would have lost out on some of the incentives plus the dealing power of mine having sat on a lot for months. I'm really liking the color switch from my default silver though, although I don't think the Stone Gray will hide winter crud quite like silver does.

In terms of regular cab shorties, Ford is really cutting back on what you can get with one. I had a 2004 FX4 RCSB that I bought new, and I remember there being several wheel choices back at that time. Now if you want a regular cab, an XLT is as good as it gets and it's one wheel choice or nothing. Good thing I like the wheels, although I plan to swap on a set of Goodyear Duratracs soon as they are the best tire in snow that I've experienced yet, and they last.

I had my '04 for almost nine years before I delved back into Jeeps (and FCA 'quality'), and that truck was never in the shop once for a repair, just one minor steering wheel clockspring recall. It was everything a daily driver/workhorse should be. The new truck has a lot to live up to, and I hope it does.

There are plusses and minuses to ordering.

Plus:
You get exactly what you want
it has not been rodded/test driven by an unknown number of people

Minus:
you have no control over when you get it (looking like a 2.5 month delay depending on when it actually gets delivered, ironically we ordered the truck exactly 4 days after the Mustang was purchased!)
No control over incentives at the time (though this time i am lucky and the incentives are better now than when ordered)

I have x-plan through my work, though many trucks that have been "sitting around" are offered at a steeper discount, but at least I have that in my back pocket. For this truck it looks to save ~7% which covers most of Washington sales tax. Then we have a by mail 2k discount and Ford 2k discount, plus 0% finance on whatever we don't put down or get in trade for our old Expedition (not much). Overall a 13% discount off of sticker before trade, not too shabby!

Definitely Ford is cutting down on the availability of options across the lineup. Platinum has less than half the color options that other trims have, despite the higher cost. Luckily the color we wanted was there either way. Also the cab/bed combos are non-existent at that level (only Supercrew with 5.5 or 6.5' box). Again, what we wanted was already there so not an issue.

Anyhow, glad that you like the truck you got (so far). I am expecting to love mine, especially important as it will be used for working and daily driving with the exception of sunny summer days!

Our truck arrived on Monday, just in time for our trip to the lake this weekend! Love it so far, super comfortable, quiet and powerful!
