Hey hey all,
Long time lurker. I am in the process of taking delivery of my new 2017 GT Premium next week which I traded up to from my Ecoboost. And of course, first thing that needs to happen is to swap out to a much louder exhaust.
My dilemma is this: On my Ecoboost, I chose the MBRP, one because it was cheap, but also because I really did love that deep tone. After spending hours on YouTube I decided I would like to go with the GT version of the MBRP this time. Currently, I still have my Ecoboost MBRP Race and I know it won't fit the GT but from what I can tell, it's the same mufflers, etc. The only difference seems to be that it has a Y-pipe instead of the H-pipe that's needed for the GT.
Well, then I thought, maybe it would be cheapest and easiest to add an H-pipe or X-pipe to this system instead, and it would be cheaper than buying a whole new system. I was really getting excited about this idea of potentially doing an X-pipe on the MBRP Race, which I personally have not managed to see anywhere yet but then I came to the realization that the MBRP system is 3 inch while the stock is 2-something and I haven't found any reasonably priced x-pipes to fit a 3in system.
All that to say, I am very new to the whole 'car' world and have very little knowledge of exhaust. Is it possible to still get an x-pipe that is cut-n-clamp for the stock system and then just use some sort of 'converter pieces to move the end of the x-pipe to fit the 3in pipes from the MBRP? And if this is a possibility, will I be losing any good sound or drastically changing the output sound by going through a 2.5in x-pipe on the way to the 3in mufflers?
I hope this is making sense, to be honest, it's all a little confusing for me as well. Thanks for any help or insight you might have!
