So yesterday I found another strange nuance with my car (maybe a deficiency)

My left mirror has four fins, where as my right mirror is complete flat and finless.


I know that [MENTION=14296]Melbnut[/MENTION] has these on both sides, so I would like to know if this is an issue I need to take up with the dealer.

Wow. That does seem weird. Do we know the purpose of the fins, if any?

My car has these fins on both mirrors. It is race red but not sure if means anything. Could the fins be related to export models? Just a stab in the dark really as I can't see what they actually do on the mirror.

Just checked mine also, I have them on both sides. They seem pointless to me....

Maybe your car is half American spec. Perhaps you have functioning tri-bar DRLS and red taillight lenses on one side of the car too .

Maybe they've snapped one of the mirrors in transport and you got an after market mounted at your dealership?

I recall reading something on the uk forums that they were added to stop wind noise or buffeting....I guess that part of your QJ karma is that yours was built around the time they changed from the plain cover to the mini finned ones.

Not "around the time" then, at the very point they changed over, like between putting on one mirror and putting on the other :doh:.

The fins are there for aerodynamics

You have the "pure" edition, we already established this ;)

Just add giant wing to make up for the loss of aerodynamics due to one finless mirror and be done with it
