I took the following pics at either red lights in some traffic and the 144 IAT was at Sam's gas line while waiting for about 5 min's, so I'm disappointed in that I bought this because I thought the k&n was getting hot due to the aluminum bent pipe

Check for any breaks in the seals. That would increase IATs significantly. There's supposed to be a rubber trim seal for the hole the filter goes though. The only place the box should be pulling air is the front scoop just like the stock air box. It should be sealed everywhere else.

So before I post some pictures, I will say the performance with this CAI is good, you will like it if you had came from stock to this CAI
Approved by the butt dyno?

Before and after dyno? What kind of iats are you seeing, staying close to stock or running higher?

Still don't understand why no one will make a 120MM fully closed box intake, tune required. These no-tune required intakes aren't going to do much more than stock. This is no different than an Airaid intake.

Open element like jlt or FP would be much higher. What you are seeing is closer to the stock box. Stock does a real good job keeping iats down.

When moving my temps are 3-5 deg higher than ambient with the Ford Racing intake.

IAT temps heating to 120 deg + is normal for a parked running car. My car with the stock intake ran 120+ many days when idling.

Now that may be the problem, I can stick a finger through there to touch the back of the filter. Is it supposed to be like that

There is supposed to be a seal there.

Man WTF! Thanks for pointing that out K4fxd. I knew something was wrong because those IAT was flying up and it didn't take long. Hell my stock box took 10 mins in summer to reach 120 with A/C on. This was doing what the K&N was doing IAT wise. Logan@Lethal, can you help me out with this.

Thanks.

Yep. Even in the dead of winter, not even stock boxes are immune to heat soak and high IAT's if you're stationary for long enough. That should still be sealed up better though.
