To answer the light bar fitment question.

Mike,
Thanks for the measurements. This windstop does seem shorter than what I'd need fro my CDC light bar. In inches, yours is 45.5" wide x 9.625" tall.
From the (underneath) center of the CDC light bar down to the level of the 'top' of the plastic horizontal surface on each side of rear seat, I measure 11" (28cm). And from your picture, it seems your windstop actually mounts ≈ 1.5" (3.8cm) 'below' the horizontal surface. This would have the windstop be ≈ 3" (7.6cm) below the bottom edge of the light bar. At the center and bottom of the light bar, the width is 49.5" (126 cm), so ≈ 2" (5 cm) gap on each side, which is fine. I guess you'd just need to decide if this fit would be visually appealing with your light bar.

To the poster that asked about light bar fitment, if you get one of these, Please post pics! :paddle: :)

Ford's Airstop really is very effective. Last night, I drove home from London's famous Ace Cafe end of summer Riot meet for over an hour at motorway/freeway speeds with top down at midnight. Cooled seats on the way there and the heated seats on the way home, cranked the Shaker up loud and played my favourite tunes under a late summer midnight sky, empty roads, driving heaven - doesn't get much better!

Hi MikeR,

Can the Ford Windstop be folded back when installed?
Does it fit in the trunk when removed?
Is a protective cover available or included?

Cheers,

Wim.

Hi MikeR,

Can the Ford Windstop be folded back when installed?

Yes, the vertical, Mustang logo'd, section folds back flat.

Does it fit in the trunk when removed?

Yes, BUT only just fits if you have the Shaker Pro sub-woofer speaker feature installed - you have to shuffle it in.

Is a protective cover available or included?

No, a protective storage cover is not included, BUT IKEA's black nylon SKUBB 60 x 135 cm clothes carrier/cover makes an idea storage bag and costs only £8 in the UK and you also have two jacket sized covers left from the set of 3 to use for their original intended purpose. Bonus! :)

Cheers,

Wim.
Hope this helps.

It's bizarre the US has dozens of good accessories on the Ford website that we can't get here; then in the UK we get something not available in the States

Very Nice - wish we had in the US. Very similar to the windstop on my Audi A4 (plugs in sides and support at back corners). The Audi windstop just fits in the 6G, but haven't adapted the plugs (no cut-outs) or the back corner supports. It DOES come with a cover and it folds twice into quarters - pretty slick. May just have to play with it.....

To all of the people who have these, how do you find them and how tall are you? I'm wondering whether it would work for a tall driver being so short?

Having used one for over a year now, I think there are a couple of factors to consider: i) the 'belt line' of the S550 is higher than some previous models with drivers / front seat passengers sitting lower below that line, which partly explains why the S550-specific windstop itself is shorter than equivalents for previous models, ii) taller drivers and passengers tend to sit with the front seat height adjustment set lower than shorter people. There probably ends up being little difference in actual seated head height, except at the extremes.

I recently found the S550 windstop to be very effective even at top-down triple-digit MPH (on de-restricted German autobahns, of course :)).

At 6' 6" I have to say it works very well - there is a noticeable difference with it there vs it being folded down.

I too shall be testing it at Triple Digits in a few month on my Euro Tour whilst in Germany!

Perfect, you are similar in height to me, so really good to know.

Thanks MikeR for responding also. Really appreciated.
