303 Cleaning and Care Kit

I use 303 Cleaning and Care Kit-for Fabric Top. It comes with a cleaning spray-on followed by Fabric Top Protector spray-on. I clean the top every couple of months, let dry for a couple of hours, followed by a double coating of the Protector spray. The kit recommends using a soft bristle brush to spread out the protectant. But I use a small microfiber applicator to gently spread the protectant.

I partially open the top, leaving the windows up. I then stretch some cheap plastic painting sheeting on top of the windows...as a skirt...and raise the top to gently secure the plastic against the windows. The plastic sheeting protects the window glass and paint from any protectant overspray.

When water drops do not readily bead up...it's time to clean and protect.

I'll tell you what NOT to use....

Never, EVER, use anything with a bleach product in it. And never park under a tree.

Trees drop crap all the time, even if you cannot see it with your eye. My '95's tan top had black spots everywhere because I use to park it under an oak tree at work. then like a rocket scientist I used X-14 to kill the mold and to clean the top. 6 weeks later I needed a new top since all the cotton stitching fell out.
When I got the new top installed I used nothing but RaggTopp products and the top looked as new 3 years later when it got totaled out.

How do you guys wash your tops? When you wash your car, do you wash the top the same way?. Just rinse, wash with soap and water with a cloth or brush? and rinse again?

Should I treat it right away?

I will take ownership of my first rag top this Friday and not sure what to do with the top??

I use 303 as well, you want the Fabric guard, they also have a cleaner, I dont use the cleaner but just a day or so before I do the 303 fabric guard treatment.

But regular car wash soap and water won't hurt, let it dry thoroughly
