Iron X on convertible top

I am going to use Iron X to remove iron particles from the paint surface of my newly delivered convertible. Can I use Iron X to dissolve the iron particles that have to be on the soft top before I use 303 Soft Top Protectant?

Update: Just got an email from makers of Iron X: " do not spray Iron X on soft top...not compatible with soft top materials"
