I have found that also happens to mine, until I removed the resonator, talk about a heat sink, there was so much discolouration from heat that's crazy, took a picture on my cell of the resonator when I replaced the cat-back.

My car is stock, and there is definitely some heat. I worry about my phone overheating when I set it in the cup holder, although it hasn't been a problem yet.

Hey guys,

Have you had a chance to swing by your Ford Dealership to let them have a look at this concern yet? They'll be best to diagnose.

Nick, how much is normal/acceptable? I know that my resonator, even after 800 miles, was already coloring due to heat.

I'm not a trained tech, so I'm unable to advise on this. I recommend bringing this to your Ford Dealer, as they'll be best to assist. If you decide to schedule an appointment, please let me know, and I'll gladly look over some options on my end to see how I can help. :)

I too have noticed how hot the center console gets and the radio stack as well. I've put in a cd and when removed from the unit I can't believe how hot it is and if it's getting that hot, what is the heat doing to the rest of the electronics in that area? The armrest storage compartment as well. I do have the factory CD manual but haven't looked at that area yet on it. Any suggestions on heat rejection material of some sort. Great forum, it's been very helpful.

Any resolution to this? My driver side gets very hot. Passenger side isn't as bad. But living in FL, sitting in traffic on a hot day sucks. The a/c struggles to keep up sometimes.

I'm thinking that some heat shielding with the sticky side would help a lot.
