I am pretty certain had I driven mine first, I would have gone home with another Coyote. The EcoBoost is an enjoyable ride. It is comfortable. It is smooth. It has great part throttle and mid-range torque. It is not fast, it does not sound particularly good and for a 4 banger, mileage is not stupendous. I average 24-25 mpg city/highway. I drive my car pretty hard though. I would imagine the car is more enjoyable with an MT-82. I bought the auto this time around.

I would have loved to have gone home with the coyote. Unfortunately, my student loans had something to say about it.

BMW DI engine owners are doing the media blasting (some kind of walnut chips) to get rid of buildup. Its cheap, and fairly easy if you can do it yourself.

Powerband is typical modern turbo four. Good low end boost, dies up top. So many magazines kept wanting quick spool, so this is what we end up with.

PS, personal city gas mileage is 28, hwy 34. Manual trans, PP, recaros are only options, JLT intake and 3" single exhaust. So the car is lighter than most, and more free flowing than most. Soon to be lowered, and would expect hwy mileage to increase then as well.

I'm kinda happy.
It goes about as good as my 06 gt. Gets way better mileage. I get 12 mpg (cnd)better than my 06 gt ever did. Power feels fine , just dont look at the tach and expect it to pull hard to 6500..just shift when it poops out and it goes. Mine really makes its move in third gear(manual), pulls good. Regular fuel it feels same in normal driving, gets same mileage. I can tell in third when i got premium in it tho.
Driving it normally, the torque makes the car seem much more powerful than it is, feels good, just doesnt keep it up when you push it the rest of way to floor, kinda like a blower car.
My only beef is It just sounds like crap, especially when i start it and I hear a rattling cheapo 4 banger under there. I am fine once its moving and i cant hear it, but yes its a letdown if you like the sound of a v8..I knew this going in, but I still hate it more than I thought i would. Like you it was my budget.
Biggest disappointment is when I hammer it into second it does a big hickup and falls flat for just a sec. Pisses me off there. The v6's i drove didnt do it.I bang it slower so it just chirps, then its fine, but I like hammering hard it occasionally ( i grew up with a toploader and a hurst, so I am used to breaking tires loose) Its just got too much traction for the power and i figure the boost falls too much or they got some kinda stupid program in it to soften things. I am ready to bolt on some skinny tires sometime so its more fun. .. And yes its not the tc..:)
My wife has the ecoboost escape and i give them both a full pull occasionally, cook things a bit in there, valves should be happy that way i figure.
Mines for sale btw, wish you lived close..:)

In the end the car is so much more comfy and the suspension so much nicer then the old stoneboat 06, it almost makes up for me cheaping out and buying this engine....

I'm happy. Engine is great imo. Plenty of power and great mpg. Not really worried about potential maintenance issues on a stock motor. If you're looking for a real fire breathing hot rod get the gt. For me it's still fast enough and I'm not getting beat up at the pump. I use the saved money on dinners, movies, etc. You should ask yourself what you truly want. A super fast gt that is very thirsty and the increased insurance costs and initial higher price. A pretty fast cheaper car that allows you to keep extra money in your pockets while having 90% of the speed of the gt while having 100% of the interior and exterior.

Same as above, it is a great car for daily driving but if you want something to play with on the weekends you will be a tad bit dissapointed. That is my opinion.

So much Debby downers here.

I bought the ecoboost over the GT because I couldn't justify $9,000 difference in price for a V8. Can build an engine for that amount of money and slap a bigger turbo on this car.

The ecoboost does need a tune to come alive though. Even doing a OTS tune really livens up this car. I see most people being satisfied with this amount of power.

Hwy mileage will always increase when you lower a car like this (bad underbody flow). Lower=less airflow under the car=less turbulence=better gas mileage. Not sure my steeda springs are right, so when I make sure everything is good, I will report back. Real world findings, not just the on board computer.

You should have saved and gotten the V8... what a shame.

Life is short... sometimes what you want is not what you need... and sometimes what you need is not what you want. Always get what you want.

A V8 is what your heart desired.

Have the EcoBoost and love it. We also like trying newer technology, so that was another reason we selected it. Had a 5.0 in the past..

As for the carbon buildup, we'll have to see what happens with this one. Each engine design gets better and better. Overall, the issue does not appear to be as bad as in the past for all manufacturers as they get valve timing etc adjusted.
