Apparently, people love or hate the Mustang.

We've had it for almost 1 month to the day. Since, we've got -

The night after we were at the theater seeing Guardians of the Galaxy 2 or something - it got out late (10 or 11pm). Parked in the parking ramp - 2 guys sitting outside their car not to far (maybe waiting for their own women) - 1 of them starts complimenting me - "dude, that car is amazing" blah blah blah...

Thanks for the compliment but dude, it's 11pm, I'm with my wife, in a parking ramp with no security...

Had a few people randomly stop us and say the same - nice car buddy, etc...

Last night though... top down, music not to loud - I hear someone screaming 2 cars behind me - "Fords suck!!! Mustangs suck!!! Your G**!!!"

Few lights pass, he gets right behind me - looked like a Dodge Dart or something crappy (not a challenger or anything fancy) - Guy screaming crap is in the back seat and the driver is elboing him like, shut up dude. Maybe he was drunk? haha.

... I'm not a big guy and nothing happened but seriously - do these cars draw that much attention? Do I need to carry a weapon or something? I've never had a car that's warranted a second look (usually drove SUVs - had a Prius once...)

Do others have similar experiences? How many people carry some sort of weapon? Not necessarily a gun, but a policeman baton or knife or ??? Just incase... ?

Not because of my car, but because people are crazy, I always have at least a blade on me.

I put 3.7 badges on my car just for that reason. It's not a 5.0, I didn't want the attention. People are A holes! Just do your thing and ignore them. Unfortunately when the GF an I go out and I know I might not be driving (bar etc..) we take the Jeep. It sucks but the car does draw a lot of attention. I get people wanting to race me all the time. I drive for work and to get my kid (who's in the car all the time) . I just ignore them and they can F off. WE have the car we love, just take the higher ground and be safe! I don't think you need a weapon. People are all talk, just stay away from late night bad parts of town.

I've gotten compliments from a number of people most of them random. Most of them from Older folks regardless of what they drive.

Also seems like every young dude driving a Honda/Miata/VW/Subaru with any type of mod wants to race me or be a prick. Just today a dude in a GTI constantly had to pass me and get in front of me...even went so far as to switch lanes to just stay in front of me. I set the cruise control and let him do his thing. Day before a guy in a BRZ went by my parked car three times the tossed revs at me...I was eating my lunch at work for gods sake and just sitting in the car listening to music and eating a sandwich.

I figure its mainly cuze its a Mustang more then anything and the S550's are very sharp looking cars.

Don't get too many compliments. Maybe 1-2 times a week someone will throw something out about it, but never any negative. Actually had a guy in a brand new camaro tail me at the mall the other day just to stop and say how he likes the S550 body, and that he wished Chevy would revamp the camaro body lol. Even though his SS sounded 800x better than mine did haha.

I always carry. In car or out. Too many crazies. Have a rifle in the trunk, and a pistol up front.

Today had a douche making sure he got as close to my rear bumper as he could at each red light. Then he would tail me to the next light.

The only thing I could think of that pissed him off was he drove a crappy 10 year old Toyota Camry. Haters gonna hate.

The car just turns some guys into a retard.
I have to laugh really.

IMO You should have a legal weapon either in your car or on your person.
Regardless of whether you are driving or not.
A man needs to protect himself and his loved ones if need be.

One reason I love living in Vegas. Open carry state and a shall issue state for CCW's... Everyone carries here. Just one more deterrent to keep people in check cause you never know who you are messing with. Better of minding your own business.

I read more hate on this forum than in the streets... well, car meets as well. Honestly, the only time I've heard "guys in verts are gy" is on this forum. Ha, ha... never in my life heard that before.

On the street most people say "nice car". Ladies tend to like my car so I don't give a sht what a guy likes.

I've always carried (ccw permit holder).... so I did not start since I have this car. My goodness, I'd never think about that just because someone called me gay or said my car was sht. I try to get out of situations like that though... no matter what you look like, you can get handled... or be the next nameless person on the news who was shot. I don't worry about what people say, I do pay close attention to their actions to ensure things are not about to get ugly.

Reminds me of that time I got in a fight at school because this guy called my mom a bithc... then my mom beat me when I got home because of it... she was beating me and asking if it were true. Ha, ha, ha.... classic, looking back on it. Never cared about that since.

I've actually never heard anyone say anything negative about a car directly to the cars owner. I hear people talking crap about a car but never directly to someones face. Maybe it's because I'm from the Bay Area and people are generally more accepting and tolerant?

I've had my car for about 9 months and it doesn't get much attention. I've had a total of 2 people roll down their window and say "nice car". Not many looks from people but I do notice FR-S drivers get a bit uncomfortable when I pull next to them, hahaha

Got flashed by a young lady in an evo along with a thumbs up and a shouted awesome ride. Get a lot of compliments suprisingly from Camaro drivers and had an older couple in an M6 pull into a gas station to check out the car. I get more crap from other Mustang drivers than anyone for only having a 4 cylinder. Havent had any negativity thrown at me other than the much deserved was driving like an ahole moments.

In my younger years, just driving down the highway...some older guy with a friend comes right up to me and start cussing crap at me for nothing. I hate that shit... he told me to pull over so I did.
Got off at a exit with a hotel close by. Didnt say nothing went straight at fighting. I think he was a trained fighter and was just baiting me for his practice but little did he know I wasn't as weak and inexperienced as he thought I would be. He was a hurting unit by the time the cops started coming. I got I'm my car and took off right before they showed...
He gashed me a good one with his ring, right on my left cheekbone.
Could have been bad if he had a gun. I've never been one to take anyone's shit...been in lots of fights over the years, but was never one to start them. I mind my own business until someone thinks they can do things that aren't right. Things have changed since a family but I still get the adrenaline pumping every now and again.
Needless to say I probably would have gotten out of the car for that ass.
Sorry you had to deal with that dummy.

Ive never felt the need to protect myself from compliments LOL. You will encounter crazies in any car you drive, but especially if its flashy or loud. Just drive away! That said I do carry but not because of the attention my car may or may not get me.
