if your Utilities Co. offers up a type of plan that covers the AC/Heating - for $X amount a month - read up on it and opt in, it's worth it. There's usually different tiers offered that covers limited parts (pretty much like a vehicle warranty).

The Utility Co we are with, we opted in on their offering; we chose the top tier, $40+ a month and covers tons of parts for both A/C and Heating...even including up to 5lbs of refrigerant. In fact, we just had to have them come out and replace a limiter switch in our gas furnace - cost us nothing for the 2 visits, labor, part and repair. Even if they have to come out 1, 2, 3, ... 10 times, and replace 1, 2, 3, 4 etc amount of parts - it cost us only $40 per month...

Of course with any "plan" always read the fine print and understand what is NOT covered, which is more important than
what is covered.

Think about it - 1 service call to ABC Co. and the need for 1 part replacement could easily exceed $300+.... and if they don't get it right the first time... it's 'mo money...

Some utilities Companies in NJ even offer similar coverage for your appliances (stove, fridge, dishwasher, water heater, etc).
