I have the same thing...I believe it is an air mixture issue, and have been wondering if the guys who have tuned the car have this issue.

Interesting thought. I will be doing the Steeda CAI and Livernois Tune soon, so I would love to hear from those that have a tune now if they no longer have the cold motor surging...that is assuming they had it before.

Nice set-up...I haven't even begun researching CAI, and Tune yet...argh!

I notice the exact same thing every day since it is still kind of cool here. The surge happens right at 3000 rpm pretty much every time. Once the engine is warm it completely goes away so i have just assumed it is normal.

Mine did it stock and it does it with the Bama 93 race tune ... It doesn't last long, just a minutes till the motor get some heat in it ..

Ok so it's definitely looking like it is normal which is a good thing. Keep it coming folks, I still want to hear from more.

Same here. Somewhere between 2,400-3,000 when cold it surges.

My car is tuned and have never noticed any surging,as soon as i come off fast idle i leave.I do take it easy until it warms upna little bit and have never noticed this.My car just turned 900 miles though.I never noticed this stock either so im going to say its not normal, might be something as simple as a reflash though.

Hmmm, anyone else not experience it?

I dont have a tune so it is not that. Ive got about 4000 miles on my car now and ive noticed it all winter especially when it was like -30. Until the car warms up power below 3000 is just kind of meh, but after 3000 rpm it feels somewhat normal. The days its warm out now or when i get back into my car and the engine is still warm it does not happen. Its not a huge issue once the engine is warm it pulls like a freight train until then I just take it easy.

Exactly my situation, granted I don't experience temps much lower than 50 degrees out, but still, below operating temp is below operating temp. Once the oil temp needle hits grain it pulls smooth as butter and strong as hell. Literally like a switch is flipped once it hits green.

I've wondered myself what that was. I get the same surging when I head up the road from my house when the engine is still cold. Feels like I'm towing a trailer or running out of gas then it returns to normal when engine is warmed up. Glad I'm not the only one.

This is from the VCT, when engine oil is cold the vct solenoids arnt flowing the oil to the cam phasers as well as it should. Isnt harmfull to engine, just makes it slightly annoying to drive in cold weather till engine oil is warm. thats why when your engine oil temp goes up the surge goes away.

Interesting, thank you...any way to alter this to your knowledge or it is just a characteristic of the car? None of my other cars have this. Either way, thank you again for the explanation.

I believe it has to do with the charge motion plates during the warm up cycle. If it was VCT then all 11-14's would do this, which they don't.
