That is why during most of the performance tests the gt heat soaks and looses power, especially when the tests are done in california heat during summer. The amount of whp loss is around 15 to 20 whp. You can dyno your car in summer with the stock tune, wait for 15 to 20 minutes to cool down and run it again, you will see a big jump in power. That is also one of the flaws of cold air intake or catback exhaust tests. Its actually car cooling down and putting more power.Someone designed this engine to be run at the OEM stat temp. Remind me again what is to be gained by using a 170 stat?
I think the advertised hp and torque is at optimum conditions, cht's around 195 degrees and iat's around 70 degrees. In reality, especially during summer, with traffic and all, those numbers can go up to 220 deg cht and 110 deg iat, which reduces the performance significantly! So why not get the best performance out of your car all year around?
