I’ve finally gotten around to starting on this mod and I’ve already encountered several challenges, such as:

- Modifying the driver’s seat trim to clear the 1st stage control valve assembly.

- Building a custom wiring harness (this will probably be my most favorite part of the install).

- Choosing mounting locations for the components.

- Drilling two holes in the firewall to install bulkhead fittings for the hydraulic lines that need to get from the engine bay to the cabin.

- Measuring for the 6 custom hydraulic lines that are needed for the setup. Note: I used an old extension cord for this (just routed it like I will each hydraulic line, taped it off and measured to determine the lengths needed). The lines and some additional fittings that have been ordered and I hope to have them in hand by the end of next week.

Here are some pics of the mock-up.

I am surprised that with as many manual Mustang owners as there are on here, no one else is running either a Clutch Tamer or the 2 stage Hitmaster clutch hit control system on their car. If there is anyone else one here that is running one or the other, I would love to get some feedback from you such as,

- What clutch are you running?
- What did you find to be the best initial setting of the first stage valve and Timers?
- Pros/cons of running the Tamer or Hitmaster?
-Are you on radials or bias ply tires?
- What style of trigger switch are you running?
- What have you found to be the best way to bleed air from the system?
- Are you happy with the product?

Thanks

Adrian

I was able to do a little more work on the Hitmaster install today. Lots of wiring, installing fittings and hydraulic line prep. I figured it would be best to torque all fittings and lines on the workbench, as working underneath the dash will be a little tight. I also tested the 1st stage timer and indicator light and they both tested satisfactorily. Tomorrow I’ll work on installing the 2nd stage transition valve and connect the hydraulic lines. The custom lines turned out very nice btw; I especially like the heat shielding. Enough talk, here are a few more pics.

Lines have all been connected and the system was bled free of air today. I must have pumped the clutch pedal by hand 1000 times (which is always fun). It was tight working up in the far left corner inside the car where the bulkhead fittings were installed. Thank God, I thought ahead to install the bulkhead findings onto the ends of the lines that are on the inside of the car. I also cut out a rectangular section of carpet and sort of made a cradle for the timers which were Velcro’d to the floorpan. Almost DONE!
