Just order the heavy duty one from Steeda for a few dollars.
I was going to but I think I broke the stock perch when I took mine out. And the perch from steeda is over $80 so I figured I’d try here. I read that without a spring it could damage the slave cylinder so now I’m worried I should put one back in.

You should put one back in, but the damage isn't instantaneous, so you can still drive it for a while.

After seeing how terrible the stock one was, I ended up getting the Steeda one since the quality/durability is much higher.

It's just hype. Many of us here have no spring (like you, I busted the perch) and I've never seen anyone mention a problem. I'm at almost 40k miles since I pulled mine. Some tiny bit of residual tension on the mechanism from pedal weight isn't gonna have any effect. It's literally designed to take far, far more pressure thousands and thousands of times.

If you're really that worried about it, I bet you could find someone with a 3D printer to make you one for next to nothing.

View attachment 306036 View attachment 306036 I broke the edge off my perch when removing the stock spring. I gathered the shards and used Loctite 404 to glue the pieces together. I then added more glue to the broken areas and dabbed the part in a small mound of baking soda, The soda turns very hard. After building it up I filed the soda down to just oversize for strength. Wow. That's true dedication. Maybe I'll try that. I've always been curious what it feels like with the Steeda spring. The whole bit is still in my glovebox if I recall correctly.

PJR202, It'll look funny seeing your reply before my post but I had tried to resize the picture and screwed up. I've had the repaired perch in the car since June and just pulled it out now to take pics and see how it's held up. So far so good.

It looks pretty sturdy. If I ever find the time to do anything I might give it a go. We got a puppy in June and basically my whole life since then has been getting random stuff out of his mouth and watching to make sure he doesn't pee somewhere..lol

Go hit a junkyard?

I ran w/o a spring for a while, but my cruise control wouldn't work reliably w/o a spring in place. The top switch wasn't activating correctly with no spring to hold it right at the expected position. Luckily I didn't throw the stock part out so I was able to switch to a Steeda spring w/o drama.

Just get the Steeda one, I waited for a while and after putting it in, this should be at top of mod list, so much better. If you don't want to spend the money, just go without one, just make sure you aren't a person with a habit to hover or rest foot on clutch while driving.

Still continues to be one of the best mods to do!

You guys should consider offering an even lighter spring. Your current spring is a tad better than stock but could be improved with an even lighter one. It only needs to return the pedal to full up and doesn't require much force at all for that last 1/8th inch.

I've got a 2017. I've read the stock spring was improved and most times my shifts are good. Is the Steeda spring that much of an improvement?
