I have the stock clutch assist spring installed, and when I was on the track this weekend it fell out. When I press the clutch pedal down, it's very loose and under no tension, is it possible then spring is just shorter and worn out? Can anybody measure the height of their stock clutch assist spring or any other ideas that might cause this?

If you look I think you'll find that one end of the spring perch broke because the stock spring is really stiff I don't think you would ever wear it out or get it to take a set and become permanently compressed.

I changed out the spring for the Steeda. The stock spring is so thick and strong I can’t imagine it breaking. If you need a replacement perch the Steeda perch is much stronger than the stock one.

I don’t think the perch is damaged. Pics attached.

I just measured mine at 2.05", so maybe that is the reason.

You have to compress it well more than 1/4" to install the assembly off the top of my head.

Maybe it was never installed correctly. Unless you got under the car and confirmed it correctly installed, it most likely was that, since neither the spring, nor the perch is broken. Probably similar to the clutch line from the brake fluid reservoir was about to dislodge, and my car had only 200 miles. I ended up putting a zip-tie at an indentation at the end of it, and also another longer zip-tie to relieve the pressure and angle a little. It worked. So I'm now going to check that issue too. Ha ha.

Get the Steeda Kit! Just did mine...what a difference! It would really help you at the track I’m sure!!

55.6mm (2.19") for me. It's sitting on my desk because I just installed a much softer spring. I didn't buy the Steeda one. I just found one on my own. Get the right (or a little longer (~+1/2")) static length and I.D. with about a 10 #/in rate. It's much better & cost $5. The car should have arrived with this.

Also make sure to lube where the perch pivots, especially at the bottom. Mine was a little dry, so forced lithium grease (what it seems to have from the factory) between perch and stud. But maybe they weren't pushed in completely from the factory; mine looks well seated. Already changed the yellowish brake/clutch rubber pads with Toyota ones, as a precaution, so I never have to worry about that. They seem to crack at around 5 years of age, so might as well do it now :).
