So my car was making this strange noise, kinda sounded like the body was oil-canning or similar. Could mostly hear it at idle because exhaust drowned it at any other time.
With a host of mods under the rear and none of them causing issues on installation, I was struggling for a solution.
The solution was quite simple although harder for guys with springs rather than bags...
Placed car on jack stands, aired out the bags.
Placed jack under LCA and cycled the suspension through its range of travel. The sound could be heard. Happy days.
I quickly worked out that the spherical bearings in both the BMR toe-rods and FR toe/knuckle bearings had kinda seized.
With this combo, you'd ordinarily be able to rotate the toe-rod by hand but not at that point in time.
The sound I was hearing was the bearing releasing and grabbing, releasing and grabbing.
Cleaned them out with some dry lube, got the rotation back into them, cycled the suspension, road tested, all gone. Silence is BLISS!!
The toe rods have been installed for about 1500 miles, Aussie conditions. So guys, keep an eye on them!
If anyone knows where you can get a boot to protect them, I'm all ears.

Thanks for that. Are you applying any lubricant before fitting?

I spray the spherical bearings with WD-40, they are BMR. I did put a small dab of grease on the rubber boots to help slide them on, but you'll need a special tool to stretch the openings without tearing them. I used two large flat head screwdrivers. See the video in the thread for additional info:

I just installed the boots on mine today while working on the car. Before it was about every 6 months I would have to hose them down with WD-40 to get the popping noise to go away.

I have had these boots sitting around for awhile and just never got to installing them. After seeing them I was sure there was no way they were going to fit over the heims but the do! I just followed what the video showed and cleaned the joints out good and put a light coat of synthetic grease over the whole heim joint body/ball and slid the boots on with 2 pairs of needle nose pliers. Hopefully this if more of a permanent solution until the boots break/rip.
