Autosol worked amazingly well!
All the discoloration gone!
Nice call!
I got some too and it’s much higher quality than other chrome polish. Even through with enough elbow grease you could use just about anything to polish stainless steel. Probably only needed 1/2 inch dab for all 4 tips! It’s great!

I did an exercise today, first time cleaning the exhaust tips after 11k km (6800 mi). Inspired by this thread I used Autosol Anti-Blue and Autosol Metal polish.

The picture is worth thousand words:

Sheet_0000.jpg

left-top - original state, top-right right tip cleaned with Anti-Blue, bottom-left - both tips cleaned with Anti-Blue, bottom-right both tips polished with Metal Polish.

Few observations:
  • Inner tips were distinctively more colored than the the outer ones (first pic)
  • Anti-Blue worked surprising well (cannot say that Metal Polish would not) and removed the coloring easily. I believe it also "softened" the carbonized residue, which I could then simply remove with fiber cloth and little nail pressure.
  • There was no visual difference between Anti-Blue and Metal Polish finish. I applied Metal Polish anyway as it still took away some material (the fiber gets black quite fast) and as a protection.
  • It looks like the guys in Dearborn polished only the outer surface and the tip bezel but not the internals (which are perforated). I guess I know why, but I wonder if taking dremel to it may change that. It might not be visible on the photos much but the inner surface looks like a raw metal.

Looks good. Not sure I’m familiar with a product called anti-blue. Is it a euro only thing? My tips are definetly in need of cleaning but the idea of actually doing it in 100 degree weather is less than motivating. I’m looking for a miracle product that will have the job done before I’m completely soaked in sweat.

I am not sure about Euro only thing. You may try to search you tube for "Autosol Anti-Blue" there are several vids which show it in action. (It is a creamy whitish liquid, which is applied by a sponge or cloth and then cleaned up.)

I am not sure why mine has Italian text on it (I bought it locally.)

Not available on Amazon. Several autosol products but not the anti blu. Must have worked too well and the gov banned it. Just like everything else…..
