Well, looks like I’m going to have to take it in to get checked. Just noticed this noise today. Wondering if anyone has had something similar? Chirps from a stop in 1st or reverse. Uploaded a clip to YouTube. CSB? Driveshaft? Tranny?

**UPDATE**
One of the halfshafts was found to be bad. Apparently, a Ford TSB exists for this exact problem and symptom on the Mach 1. Replacement to happen this week. Hope to have it back in a couple of days.

Just wanted to update anyone who gives a flying F

Dealer says there is a Ford TSB for failed halfshafts and bad CV joints. They found one of my halfshafts bad. Parts and replacement to happen this week.

I asked if they would replace both and they said they’ll check them both before replacing them. I at least tried to get them both swapped, 🤣

Do Mach 1s have the GT350 style Axles? Or are they the Standard GT Axles?

Thanks for the head's up. Glad to hear it's getting fixed.

I logged into Ford and scanned the TSBs; we have a few.

Attached is the one I think, as a reference; it covers a lot of Mustangs.

Good question, according to my service advisor they’re the same across all 5.0 equipped 6mt Mustangs including the new Dark Horse. He cross referenced PNs and did verify this. Gt350 and gt500 use different axles.

Asked my service advisor and all 5.0 manual tranny mustangs use the same rear axles including the new Dark Horse. He confirmed PNs this afternoon for me.

Wow interesting. I had no idea axles could be hollow. I always thought they were all solid, doing a quick google search Hellcat axles are hollow. Seems like there are advantages to using them. Driveshafts are hollow so I can see how there would be some benefit.

The Ford Performance aftermarket shafts are much heavier than the factory shafts. Not sure how they’re constructed (whether solid or hollow as well), but they’re really beefy.
