Didn't really want to ruin the ambiance of the dealership visit a few weeks ago by trying to shoe horn a child seat into the back of the LHD Euro spec.
Ha - I was actually thinking of bringing an ISOfix seat to the test drive.:D

 Gotta make sure it meets your needs.

Wonder if they'll let me put the dog in the back :ford:

Thread resurrection!

Has anyone ordered one of these? Looking at getting the Britax Römer with KIDFIX for my daughter, but just want to 100% sure it will fit!
Caution. There are many sub models of Britax Romer.
I have the romer II xp sict for my 4 yr old and it fits fine. However I suspect he will be out of headroom by the time he is 6, at which point I will use a low booster if he needs it.

Thanks for this. I will probably just order the one direct from the ford website to make sure I get the right model.

I use a Recaro YoungSport Hero in mine. Suitable from 9-36kg, or about 2 to 12 years old! You just remove more and more of the seat as they get bigger.

Its a really good seat and importantly it fits perfectly in the Mustang.

Im very happy with it.

Far be it for me to say but..

Does anyone take into consideration the 2 star rating for rear seat passengers?

I'm not a parent so couldn't give a single toss about rear seat safety as I have only ever taken 2 people in the back in 6 months but if it was my child I'm not sure where I'd stand...

Would a child seat negate the rating? As I've said I have zero experience of child's seats so come at this from a 100% ignorant point of view.

Yes, 100%. Modern child seats and even the high back boosters have high levels of side head protection which does a lot to negate the issue of a rear seat passenger contacting the pillar. I went so far as to buy a convertible, so no pillar at all ;)

Thanks for the tip, looks like I might get one of these instead as like the look of the extra side impact protection.

It's a fair question, however for me my child will mainly only do very short journeys in the Mustang (2 miles each way to nursery). We have a Quashqai for big family trips

I was very happy to see this thread pop up - with a 2 year old already and a Mustang arriving next month baby seats are very much in my car's future!

I took the biggest babyseat I could get my hands on to the Ford dealership and fitted it into the demo car.
It wasn't an easy fit, and I may need to get a new forward facing one now, but the huge one fitted and the rest is history!

Following the Ncap debacle we got a Recaro Nova2 for our eight year old. She's not a big car seat fan however; she tends to loll around even in the scooped rear seats of the Stang but this seat keeps her upright and provides side protection to body and head. It doesn't address the pre-tensioner issue and no idea if it helps submarining but not sure what would. The gimmicky speakers in the headrest are enough to keep her happy. As an added bonus we told her that everyone wanted Recaros in their cars but only a lucky few little people actually had them
