Check Engine Oil Soon

Combination of miles driven, oil temperatures reached, and calendar time. Regardless of the miles driven, it will trickle down to 0% after 12 months time. If you haven't driven it much, after 6 months it will show 50% life remaining.
My car was purchased in July, 2015 and I just passed 2300 miles on it.

Well it turned out to be calendar time. This past weekend was my purchase anniversary date and sure nuff the display message changed from "change oil soon" to "oil change required". The odom says..
