So I got the notice today. I'm in a dilemma cuz wife has to use her car tomorrow and it just so happens it's my Saturday to work. I have to drive to downtown Chicago (30 miles expressway). I drive mostly normal lol, so would I be risking anything if i drove to work, then to jiffy lube afterwards?

Its a reminder light, reminding you to get it done soon. Kind of like a low fuel light. Just because it pops on doesn't mean you're instantly out of gas or need to change the oil.

I'd be more scared taking it to a Jiffy Lube (or any place for an oil change) than I would be driving it.

Dear God, please don't take it to a quick lube shop!

I just got mine to pop up before changing my oil today.

It comes on when you have 5% left on the oil life meter. Figure the meter factors 7500 miles or 12 months time from 100% to 0%; so every 5% is about 3 weeks time or 375 miles.

Basically get it changed within a month/300-400 miles from now.

I'm pretty sure the meter also takes into consideration on how aggressive you drive the car as well. My oil light pops up just shy of 5k miles, every 4-5 months.

Well of course, for daily driving like to work/stores it seems about 12 months in my case. I didnt hit 5,000 miles so Im not sure what the mileage but I assume approx the 7500 the manual says is what the computer is set to.

Im still pretty sure when it pops up at 5% you have a few weeks/few hundred miles buffer.
