That's strange. I would think if your Check Engine light came on that there would be a DTC stored even if it was an old history trouble-code.

Did you disconnect the battery at any time after the Check Engine light came on?

I researched what my "vehicle health report" said and I got the following.

EMISSION CONTROL SYSTEM

Your vehicle has run out of fuel—the engine may misfire or run poorly.

Poor fuel quality or water in the fuel—the engine may misfire or run poorly.

The fuel fill inlet may not have closed properly. See Refueling.

Driving through deep water—the electrical system may be wet.

Could this be why there is no code under the DTC screen?

Thats what I am starting to think. Ive never seen a car throw a code for bad gas though...

If it was a real mis-fire, I would think a DTC would have been set. Apparently you can get a Check Engine light with no stored DTC, which makes it basically impossible to know what really caused it.

Thanks for your help. I have an appointment for Friday to see what it is, so I am taking off my CAI tomorrow just in case.

The Vehicle Health Report means nothing; it simply records any indicators that are illuminated in the Instrument Cluster at the time that the test is performed. So if you run the report with the parking brake set, it will show up on the Health Report as a brake problem. It's not in the least bit accurate or useful; it's designed for people who don't understand what the warning lamps in the IPC mean.

If the Check Engine Light is illuminated, there is an active DTC or a stored DTC. The dealer will be able to retrieve that and diagnose the cause.

Depends on the DTC; if it's set in Continuous Memory and not On-Demand, it may not appear when you run the DTC test in Engineering Test Mode.

Doubt it. Instead of hitting the dealership, you could stop by the local AutoZone or whatever parts store and have them check for DTCs with an OBDII code reader. They should do it for free.

Not unless the it is a hard fault, meaning that the issue is present when you run the test. Certain DTCs can only set in continuous memory, so it would be best to have the dealer use IDS to retrieve all the DTCs.

Check to see if you have an open port somewhere? Sounds like unmetered air is getting into the system somehow?

Check your PCV valves. Maybe one of them is stuck, or unplugged?
