Changing to a new motor oil **help**

Hello,

So i am going to be doing an oil change soon and i am completely using a different weight and brand of oil. Is there any extra steps i need to do while swapping from 5w-20 to 5w-30 or can i approach this as a normal oil change. I know that this may be a silly worry but id like to make sure.

I have a 16' which is 8.5 or in your experience is it more ? With the filter

I would start with 8. Then check level and top off as needed.

Did you do it? If yes, how did it go? Which oil did you go with? I'm doing mine soon, but since my car holds 10 quarts (which is the capacity of my reservoir), I need to drain 3 or 4 first, then put the plastic drain plug back, put the old oil in a recycling jug, then drain the rest. No sense in buying a huge reservoir just for this car. Hope I can control the flow without making a mess. I checked the only 2 valves available (Ronin and UPC), and didn't like neither one. So if I can control the flow with the stock one, will stick to it. Wish it had a magnet, but it's not really necessary IMO.

I did mine last weekend and yes you can control the flow with the stock plug. Just ease it out a little bit after you turn it and hold it in place so it doesn't gush out. I let a few quarts out that way and then pulled it all the way out. No mess.

You could get an 18 gallon container cheap. ATD Tools 5184 Black Drain Pan - 4-1/2 Gallon Capacity
Use your existing container for something else.
