Ok, I thought I knew how to do this. I mean, it's not exactly rocket science. I bought the car a little over a years ago. I went through all the user setup menus and set my instrument lighting colors and ambiant lighting colors, in my case, blue, at that time and that's where it's been ever since. Lately, I've been thinking I wanted to try a different color, just cause. So I went into the menu, found the section that lets me change the lighting colors. I picked the new color and pressed OK to select it and the gauges obediently changed to the new color, in this case, purple. No problem, right? So I drive the car, park it, and the next evening, run an errand and the instrument lighting was back on blue. To date, I've had changed the color about a half dozen times and every time I cycle the car off and on, it resets back to the blue. I've gone through the owners manual and not found anything useful.. I thought it might be a blown fuse that's not allowing whatever memory system to hang onto the new setting but none of the descriptions in the manual say anything about this particular function. At least I'm not recognizing it if it is

So........anyone got any ideas?

Thanks for any thoughts on the subject,

Its not normal. But I doubt its as simple as a fuse.

Memory settings? M1 and M2 are set differently on our car. My son likes the green colors. I have to hit M2 on the door panel to get my setting back.

If you've got a car with the 3 memory buttons on the door, you have the ability to save your color settings with the buttons; and you also can pair the buttons with the fob. In my case, I've never bothered to pair a button with the fob, as I'm the only driver of my car (my wife doesn't like MT's). So, I set the seat and mirrors the way I like. Then, I picked the gauge and ambient colors, hold button 1 for that choice until you hear the beep and hit "OK" with the steering wheel button when prompted to save your settings. Repeat 2 more times for the other 2 buttons; and now you have three choices for colors. If you choose to pair the fob with one of the buttons, then the mysettings will always default to the button you have paired with the fob when you get in and start the car. If you don't like the default that day, hit one of the other two buttons to change to one of your alternate two choices. I vaguely recall pairing a button with the fob requires you to hit the lock button on the fob within a few seconds of hearing the beep after holding the button for a few seconds...

Hey guys!

BINGO!!

The memory seat settings was the answer. I knew they stored the seat and outside mirror positions. I had no idea it also saved the instrument cluster and ambient light color preferences. I just went out and reprogrammed the lighting colors and saved it to the memory seating. I then shut the car down, got out and locked the door, came back 30 seconds later, started the car back up and the color preferences were still there. If this is in the owners manual, I sure missed it. Then again, it never occurred to me to look under memory seating for this either. I double checked the manual again under memory seating and it didn't say anything about saving lighting preferences. It specifically mentioned seat and outside mirror positions but not lighting. Out of curiosity, would any of you with Mustangs newer than 2016's mind checking your manuals on this?

Thanks for the feedback. You guys are great!
