After you curb your wheel take it off the car, put it in a log splitter then put it back on car and call the warranty company.

It does say that cosmetic damage is not covered. So curb a wheel, I am not sure that it would be replaced. swedensky , what is your take on this? I would sincerely appreciate your input on the issue. Thanks!

Edited to add: at what point does it go from a cosmetic issue to a structural issue with carbon fiber? I'd imagine that any gouge or defect would affect structural integrity....

Hey Tom - I didnt get clear guidelines from Ford but the warrantor raised no issues whatsoever with my claim given the gouge went all the way thru the thermal barrier coating (edit)--> AND it was damaged by a road hazard. I think this is key as it is a 'Road Hazard' warranty. Curbing the wheel would fall into personal negligence and would not be covered IMO.

As a side note I was able to speak with Carbon Revolution completely off the record and without giving away anything Ford proprietary/confidential the rep I spoke to basically said for a gouge such as mine to become a serious issue I'd have to beat on the brakes very very hard AND there would still be an extended time factor as the CF weave slowly degraded. I believe he gave 0-100-0 and 0-60-0 all day every day for a while as an example of where something like this breach of the thermal coating could come into play a bit faster.

There were also some other nice tidbits...would definitely encourage anyone with an R or considering CF wheels to give the guys at Carbon Revolution a call. I submitted an email and they called me back within a day or so.

After driving my R in the snow, backwards down a mountain road in the opposite lane last winter and damaging two of my R wheels (made a thread) - I would have loved to have that coverage for 2k.

Haha.

I still don't know where to get them fixed. Gonna work on it this winter. Just need a bit of filler and paint.

Would send some pics and a brief summary to Carbon Revolution. I was given the impression they cannot be 'patched' if the damage is to the thermal barrier coating because it is a plasma application process. But definitely give them a holler to discuss your specific situation.
