Yes u can go super nuts on any audio set up, but putting in speakers without paper like what Ford has done is already an improvement.

While I don't discount a very expensive and sophisticated system that includes a center channel may possibly be sound off winning, when considering the effect of the center channel upon the factory setup, it created more unwanted effect than it helped. With a switch installed, I can A/B the sound instantly and can say confidently that the sound is far superior without the influence of the center channel. Possibly the potentiometer idea could add the fill some desire without overdriving the smallish driver. That is more than I wish to do. Upgrading to better drivers all around and adding an amp will be plenty with perhaps the addition of a sub in the future.

When its time to upgrade all the speakers, what "plug and play" options are out there?

Looking for great sound, little to no cutting and modding, and wont break the bank.
The cost is free:

1)Touch the power button to turn the radio off.

2)Flip the far right switch on the bottom row of switches in the center console, switching the exhaust to "sport mode".

3)Press the accelerator.

Crutchfield has a set up using infinity speakers and hardware kit for the front and rear speakers factory fit
But the tweeters are a different story, these seem like they need to be modified for install
And I haven't found a replacement for center

I'm in the process of upgrading the drivers. I'm using an older set of Boston Pro's that I've had and like the sound of. They are not a drop in by any means but fabbing up adapters is relatively easy. I have replaced the pathetic rear deck speakers and already hear an improvement. Being that they are a two way set up I'm still deciding how I want to do the doors and tweeters.
