Cat-back install with one person

I've just purchased a cat back exhaust. How easy is it to remove the stock exhaust, and bolt up an xpipe, and exhaust with one person? I can put the car on ramps or jackstands, and have a shop jack to try to reach under and support the weight of the stock exhaust; while I unbolt it.

Its not that bad, 1 hour tops if you can turn a wrench.

It's do-able, I did mine myself.... wasn't the easiest thing, but not impossible. It is a decent amount of weight when the mufflers come off the rear hangers though.

If it's your first time doing an exhaust on a car it make take a little while just to get familiar with where everything is at, but it's definitely one of the easier mods to do. Like mentioned above, the heavy factory exhaust can be awkward to maneuver while underneath the car, but not impossible to do. Also, it took me just as long to align the exhaust to have the tips look even as it did for me to install everything. Some exhausts are probably easier to align the tips on depending on which setup you go with.

I'd have a 2nd person.. only for the one minute where you drop the stock exhaust.. You can do it yourself, but you're risking a bop on the head or wherever it lands if you bobble it

Did mine by myself. Hardest part of job is getting car on jack stands.

easy, did it myself, the stock exhaust is a bit bulky. Remove the rear hangars, then unclamp the exhaust from the headers. Watch the resonator it has a bit of weight to it, but I just layed it on my chest and scooted the system out

Definitely easier with a helping hand especially for removing the stock exhaust. If you have 2 jacks it's a little easier. Also when adjusting the catback it's good to have someone hold the tips in place while someone tightens it.

Pretty much how I did it. One tip is if you have some boxes or plastic bins you can lay underneath it at a couple of spots they can hold it up for you as you unbolt the stock one.

Watching the videos they say you can leave the rear-most hangers in place and push it back and off the stock headers, but I never could on either of mine. I just unbolted the rear hangers to make it come off. Just a tip if you get stuck.

I did it and I felt that it was super easy. I put the car on ramps tho. And I backed it onto the ramps with the rear up. I had to remove my rear sub-frame brace as well. Even with that it took about 1 hour to remove the cat-back and the next day it took about 1-1/2 hours to install the catback. That includes the time to remove the brace. Do not pay a shop. Just get a set of $50 ramps from Pep-Boys or any auto parts store and with basic hand tools you'll be set.

On a wheeled creeper it was doable. The Stock GT exhaust is about 70 lbs... heavier than I thought.

Its a pain to get out from under the car. I used a transmission jack to support it while I unbolted it all, then just rolled it out.

Took about two hours including getting the car on and off jacks.

Took me a total of 4 slow hours taking lots of breaks because it was 98* and I was in my apartment complex parking lot lol. Wasn't really in a hurry. Was super easy to do like everyone already mentioned make sure you have something under the stock when it comes off

I did it alone, but used a new quick jack. I have a vert, so I also had to lower the extra bracing, but it wasn't hard. I'm sure I could have done it on jack stands, but raising and lowering on the quick jack was very easy.

I did with just jack stands, a little heavy but not a big deal. Just make sure there is room behind the car to slide the factory exhaust out.

I did my catback alone with just the rear on ramps with jack stands for safety. It was tight under there but I didn't have any issues. When the stock catback came down on top of me it was a bit heavier than I expected
