0-60: 4.5
1/4: 13.0 at 113 mph!

How do you even run a 13.0 at 113? Do you wait most of a second before you leave the line? Do you walk off the line so you don't scratch the tire tread? That speed is sick! Someone is going to run low 12s with this car pretty soon.

Jalopnik sources its reviews from Road & Track.
You sure about that? I know that Jalopnik and R&T have a close connection, but nothing that's shared. From my understanding, they'll simply "front page" (i.e. promote/advertise) a R&T review that Nunez or Tom McParland might post or link to on Oppo. Writers like Wert, Hardigree, and Orlove tend to post stand-alone reviews that represent Jalopnik's views.

A then-new MY09 C63, weighing in just a hair under 4,000lbs and with 450ish horsies and 440ish lb-ft, is able to run the quarter in the mid to low 12s with a similar trap. I'm wondering what it could be...

Oh well, the S550's fast as far as I'm concerned. :p

They are in Ca.I wonder if they did they runs with the ac on, would make a big difference, plus little things full tank of gas and what setting the traction control was in.

That MPH could be a telling sign, a good telling sign. Maybe this thing pulls hard on the big end.

Now I really want to see more test numbers.

I thought the ECU lowers or disengages the compressor at WOT, like most modern cars.

One thing to keep in mind with these tests is how they benchmark against the S197. Car and Driver had a long-term test of a 2013 GT. Their performance numbers are listed here.

Good point, Tony. I am a long-time C/D subscriber, and I know their results follow a strict routine. All data is collected by a sensor that reads ground speed, which means their 1/4 miles times start as soon as the clock starts, not when the car breaks the beams at the strip. So there can be some latency. Also, they do NOT use a full, screaming start, more like a rapid walk out, or so they describe.

Their 13.0/111 in the '13 was bad enough. Everyone else was in the 12s. A 13.0/113 sounds like a really lazy start to me, and anyone willing to use launch control or simply let it fly is likely to do better.

A full second quicker to 130mph and 20' shorter braking from 70-0. That is substantial!!

Yeah, those times sound like something I would do. I am a terrible drag racer!

Not having the benefit of a rollout like you have at a real drag strip should make for a slower ET, and that is consistent with their results.

A Few Words About Rollout

The term "rollout" might not be familiar, but it comes from the drag strip. The arrangement of the timing beams for drag racing can be confusing, primarily because the 7-inch separation between the "pre-stage" and "stage" beams is not the source of rollout. The pre-stage beam, which has no effect on timing, is only there to help drivers creep up to the starting position. Rollout comes from the 1-foot separation (11.5 inches, actually) between the point where the leading edge of a front tire "rolls in" to the final staging beam — triggering the countdown to the green light that starts the race — and the point where the trailing edge of that tire "rolls out" of that same beam, the triggering event that starts the clock. A driver skilled at "shallow staging" can therefore get almost a free foot of untimed acceleration before the clock officially starts, effectively achieving a rolling-start velocity of 3-5 mph and shaving the 0.3 second it typically takes to cover that distance off his elapsed time (ET) in the process.
