I have an opportunity to buy a low mileage Canadian Bullitt. 150 miles. The dealership is in the U.S. They are telling me they just replace the speedometer cluster with a U.S. one. Are there any other differences? They are selling me the car for 46K plus tax with magneride and electronics package. I told them I want the car Ford CPO'd as well. What do you think?

I am pretty sure the Canadian Bullitts come standard with every option other than seats and a car cover. Those both being optional. One you leave the cluster on track mode like the rest of us you can set it on MPH full time!

Dealer just called back. I agreed to do it if they can CPO the car. Otherwise, I am looking at spending another $1500 or so to get it new. I like the CPO as I may sell it in a few years and it transfers to the new owner. I have used the CPO on my Mountaineer with 92K miles. They had to pull the engine to get at one exhaust maniford bolt. That would have cost a couple of thousand. So, I try to get it on all my used cars.

The salesman, seems like a nice guy. He's telling me they change the speedo and it's no big deal. It's a Ford dealer so they should be familiar with that. I don't like the idea of DRL, though. But, It's a small price to pay to get the car a couple of thousand cheaper I guess.

So, you are telling me that you can go in to the options meno on the display and change it to MPH?

The Canadian Bullitts all have the digital display, so I would imagine it should just be a setting change in the cluster or in the PCM. I don't think they need to actually swap out the cluster.

I'm not sure why you would buy a used (even low miles), foreign titled car for only $1500 less than you could get a new one, especially if you're thinking of selling it in a few years.

I've shopped it extensively. Virtually every price on autotrader is thousands less than the actual deal. Just trying to get a sales call into the dealer.

It's more of a software thing. The Canadian cars would have French language for Sync 3 and the DRLs. It would also default the speed to KM/H and when you go to MPH it will put it underneath. That's how mine works anyway.

Yeah, that's what I am saying, its a software update at most not a cluster swap (FlusterCluck - The Punisher reference). By the way, for Sync, you can choose the language you want, its not in French if you don't want it in French. Mine is permanent in English and I am in Quebec.

I also believe in Sync you can choose to have it in metric or imperial units, not 100% on this, I know my Audi MMI allows this and the setting stays as long as you don't revert it back.

The salesman told me they have to swap the cluster and that they already did. But I told him I need to see a text photograph back in English not metric. We shall see.

The Canadian deal has been axed. The car's dial stays KM but the digital readout is in MPH. Deal breaker. Thanks for all your input.

Thanks, now I get it!

But in 2019 its crazy that this isn't a simple software update or setting available to the owner to choose between metric or imperial, especially for a car that is sold globally!
